I turned the corner, hoping to find my boyfriend, but all I could find was an abandoned hallway minus a few students. The bell had just rung, yet it was like everyone sprinted to class. I turned back the other way I came before calling his name again. “Maxon!” I shouted. Maxon had left a note in my locker, telling me to come find him at brunch for my Christmas present. Typical Maxon. I reached the stairs to the language building and practically ran up them. Just when I wanted to give up, a pair of arms wrapped around my middle. “Merry Christmas, my dear!” Maxon said, kissing my cheek. “I am not your dear,” I said, with a fake frown on my face. Maxon laughed. “Is my perfect girlfriend having a wonderful Christmas?” he asked. “Well aside from the fact that I was looking for you when I should be studying for finals, it’s great actually. The decorations in the halls are beautiful and I have the most amazing boyfriend to share it with,” I said, giving him a peck on the lips. “Would you like to open your present?” he asked. “Maxon, you didn’t have to get me anything!” I protested. “Oh, but I did,” he countered. He pulled out a basket. “This is the first part of it.” I lifted the flap and saw about a dozen strawberry tarts decorated with fondant Christmas trees. My mouth watered just looking at them. Maxon saw my excitement and smiled. “Maxon, thank you so much!” I squealed, throwing my arms around him. “I love you so much.” “And I love you with all that I am, America,” Maxon confessed. He pulled me into a deep and slow kiss. My heart melted as he started lower me down, but before I could get too low to the ground, he pulled me upright. “There is still another present, my dear,” Maxon said. “I am not your dear, but continue,” I said. Maxon pulled out another box and handed it to me. I took it and turned it over in my hands. I opened it ever so slightly to reveal the most beautiful bracelet ever. There were tiny charms all around it. A violin, strawberry tart, a crown and a heart. I marveled at its beauty and perfection. “Maxon, it’s perfect!” I acclaimed through tears. I hugged him even more than the last time and pressed my lips to his. Even while I was sobbing, Maxon still loved me. “Maxon, how could I ever thank you?” I said. “You are everything to me. I love you so much and I fall in love with you more each and everyday. What more could I ask for?” he asked. “Oh, I can think of some things,” I said as I grinned. “Oh really?” he questioned. “Yes,” I confirmed. “Well then, why don’t you show me,” he suggested. “Gladly.” I turned around and started to walk down the hall with Maxon following her. I turned around suddenly and glared at Maxon. “Why are you following me? You think we can do this right now?” “No! Well maybe…. Since we both have a free period I just thought…” “That’s funny sweetheart, but see you have to get through finals first. Can’t have you distracted!” With that, I continued to run down the hall to my next class knowing that Maxon was smiling at me. ————————————————
