Can we get some combined Alya and Marinette sugar going on in the tags??
The whole fandom seems to be tearing them both apart like hyenas on a carcass like wtf
Anyway, I'll start: Alya has been Marinette's bestie from the get-go. Yes, she's right to be pissed off at Mari given what she understands of the situation, but I strongly believe that the two will eventually come back stronger than ever. Remember, this is a kid's show, and most kids shows will have a pair of friends ride out a rough patch and then come to an understanding with a repaired friendship- especially when they've been besties from the start. Neither of them are goddamn evil, neither are abusers or whatever. They're 14 year old girls stuck in a messy situation that neither asked for, and they're both highly competent heroes doing the best they can with what they know and with very limited support from either end.
AI will really pop up uninvited like "hi! I'm Gloprity! Would you like me to reply to your friend so you don't have to? Would you like me to polish your email so you have no voice? Would you like me to scan this article and then tell you what you should think? Would you like me to be human for you? Would you like to do nothing, be nothing, say nothing, think nothing, feel nothing?" and it doesn't even have a face I can punch in retaliation?
are shows and movies allowed to be subtle and ambiguous anymore..... is that still allowed or does everything have to be a patronizing hand holding session. just wondering
Just to be clear, I have nothing against Alya. She's an interesting character, a good person, a skilled superhero, and a good friend. But even if I like her character, this doesn't mean I can't have some criticism of her, right? (This fandom loves to say this exact thing, but usually when it comes to Marinette.) Besides, I'm sure it's just a part of her character arc. She'll get there. Everything will be fine.
The thing is that I'm on the side of those who have it worse. Alya might be a million times right. Adrien might be confused and struggling to figure out what he wants. Marinette has it much worse. I don't care that she fucked up. Quite the opposite, I'm on her side because she fucked up. Hope it helps.
What bothers me more than anything Alya or Marinette might have done is fandom's reaction. You're praising Alya for roasting Marinette for her mistakes, and all I can see is a complete disinterest in Alya's character. You don't want to analyze her arc. Is she right or wrong? Why did she do this and that? What does it mean for her personally and for hers and Marinette's friendship? All I can see is just obsessive desire to see Marinette punished, no matter who does that and why. Alya has an excuse: she's a teenage girl traumatized by lying. What excuse do y'all have?
(literally, because I only started rewatching mlb this month and I've been spoiled a ton so I'm combining nostalgia with whatever surface level knowledge I have because I really miss those miraculous ladybug comic dubs)
There is this current tendency in fandom where people call slop literally any part of the fandom they aren't invested in. Yaoi slop, yuri slop, theory slop, whatever.
Like, first of all, we all agree that slop as a whole has lost all meaning, right? The only thing that should be a fitting for that word is souless garbage with no real passion, and yet I see fuckers calling fanfiction, fantheory and fanart that. Things that people do because they want to, because they have fun, because they enjoy it.
Like, DUDE. You know can just... not watch the thing you aren't interested in, right?? You don't have to use any term at all to try to make less out of anyone engaging in a harmless ass hobby that has zero effect in your life. You can just ignore it. Fandom is a big ass place, buddy. If you don't want to even see Spamtenna, lore theories or whatever the absolute fuck, guess what? You don't have to. There is literally nothing at all stopping you from just having your own little corner in fandom and mind your own fucking ass business.
Seriously, you all calling other people's stuff slop just because you don't like it are boring as all fuck. Like, who the fuck do you think you are to dismiss the care, passion and love people pour into something just because YOU don't like it?? Don't think I didn't notice you all do this bullshit with what happens to be a popular thing, because god fucking forbid you all develop a fucking personality outside of "I dislike popular thing, therefore I am unique and especial." Get a fucking grip already. Literally no one has to cater to your pretentious ass. Make your own bullshit if you are so concerned with "uwuw the way this fandom is headed uwuwu" and shut the fuck up.
