“Oh, I have many.” Fox Mulder lives his life chasing the impossible, the strange, the absurd, and he so easily finds himself chasing her every word. Who is he to deny the temptation of the unthinkable? Four unexplained deaths, each victim leaving little more than clean bones and obscure motives… Classic X-file.
“These men weren’t just stripped of tissue, but it’s like they were sucked dry. There was a series of unsolved murders just like this back in the Philippines in the early 1900s, but it’s all been forgotten, tucked away like it couldn’t be buried fast enough. she gingerly takes the photo from him and peers at the markings on the bones. how hadn’t she noticed them before? blame sleep deprivation and a lack of caffeine--plus the excitement of being able to work a case with the FBI. ‘ the question is, how do you flush out a creature that can change what it looks like? all of the murders have taken place in different parts of the city with seemingly no rhyme or reason, and believe me, i’m trained to pick up patterns in these things. ’ Mara cranes her neck to look up at him, allowing a real smile to curve across her mouth. ‘ where would you start, Agent? ’
