LMAAAAAOOOOOO RENEE'S REACTION TO HAVING HER FIRST DAY ON THE JOB SURPRISE ATTACKED BY HER GORGEOUS EX SHE'S STILL IN LOVE WITH BEING A PART OF HER TEAM
Ok so I'm gonna try to really dive into Absolute after I finish All Along the Watchtower for my Renee and Kate fix since they don't get to do jack shit in Absolute. Obv I'm doing batman primarily but for secondary: wonder woman or martian manhunter? I hear Absolute MM is like some of DC's best writing ever and that Absolute WW is more hype moments and aura stuff but like...Wonder Woman...
Man. I couldn't possibly have known about ai happening when I got my degree but now freelance writing is mostly dead and I have nothing. I can't work most regular jobs because of my disability and any full remote work I could do is an impossible market to break into. I'm fucked
Rewatching desperate housewives (it rules) and i COMPLETELY forgot that Gabby is a literal actual pedophile and nearly gets arrested for statutory rape. Insane detail to just throw into the mix and move on from like it's just another wacky day for the gals. Damn fine television.
I'm gonna be honest. Maybe I missed some super hidden dialogue check or something but I didn't find the Dolores Dei dream sequence to be particularly compelling. Generic vapor and weird pregnancy heartstrings tugs. I'm really disappointed in it if I'm being real
I want to come up with a way to describe my issues with the writing that goes beyond "this must go hard as hell if you're a straight guy" but that's kinda what it is. We just don't get enough from Dolores to make the emotional connection beyond "i don't like that you're so sad"
And like yes yes it's Harry's dream he's in denial whatever but it was boring, not viscerally upsetting like it should have been. Instead it was just "i'm leaving for someone better and I'll get over it and you won't" and it's like ok. Fine. But why the buildup? Everything else has hit so hard and gotten me to cry multiple times so this being bad makes it stand out way more than it would have if it was in an average game. Like I was more tolerant than usual of the masculinity focus because I thought it was setup for a big payoff, something with meaningful commentary. Framing so much around his ex makes him less interesting and more cliche in a bad way. Messed up cop who isn't over his ex-wife is a tired trope that's there to be played around with so playing it completely straight makes the writing around it fall flat, even if it was previously interesting.
The worst part is that part of her reason for leaving changes based on your stats which is ofc meant to be clever but while the other ones are a bit more tongue in cheek commentary type stuff like INT skills making you a human dictionary etc. the one for physical is that he BEAT her and asking us to feel like that's even remotely on the same level as the others is AT BEST extremely insensitive.
