Who named them/Significance of their name:
Leandra and Malcolm lived in a small house on the outskirts of Highever when they first fled to Ferelden. Malcolm had gone into the city for supplies when Leandra went into labour six weeks early. Having no where else to go, Leandra traveled to their closest neighbour, who was an elderly woman living on her own. The woman was often regarded as cruel and odd by the locals. The woman took one look at Leandra and brought her in and helped her deliver a healthy baby girl. The woman’s name, as Leandra learned was May, so she named her new daughter Maéva in her honour.
The Hawkes continued to live near Highever until Maéva was four, as the two room house would no longer cut it for a soon to be family of five. That was when the family traveled south to Lothering. It was a vine covered cottage that stood next to a small pond, where Maéva and Carver would catch frogs while Bethany helped Malcolm with the crops. The frogs usually found their way indoors much to Leandra’s dismay.
Relationship with parents:
Maéva loved both of her parents dearly, but she especially adored her father. He was somehow always able to put up with her short attention span, which proved useful when Maéva’s magic began to show. Malcolm always told the best stories before the children went to bed. Leandra, however appealed more to Maéva’s feminine side as Maéva loved how her mother would tie colourful ribbons into her hair.
Three words to describe them as a child:
Independent, cunning, and loved.
For the most part, Maéva’s closest friends were Bethany and Carver and she was extremely protective of them. Though when Bethany’s magic showed, her and Maéva became closer while Maéva and Carver grew apart.
A small, worn out stuffed mabari. It wasn’t particularly impressive and maybe calling it a mabari was generous, but Leandra had made it for her and she loved it dearly. It was one of the few possesions Maéva grabbed before fleeing Lothering.
When Maéva was 12 she was out practicing magic in the woods despite her father’s warning. It was then that a young templar stumbled upon her. In her panic, Maéva let out a large bolt of electicity. The templar fell to the ground and she ran and didn’t look back. Maéva waited and waited for the templars to come get her but...nobody came.
Practicing magic, exploring, playing dolls with Bethany, and making up stories with her siblings.
Sleeping, she didn’t like the whispers.
Singing at the top of her lungs, biting her lip when she’s thinking, can’t sit still.
