Dear liquid plastic, you are my new best friend. 💖✨💫
Back to work. #wip
Just a cute set of photos from that day on Castle Hill (May 14).Â
Feeling many things today, and loving this painting that just about covers it.
"Artistin Marcella" by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, 1910.
Art is hard.
I dedicate this gif to Brittany.
Screenshots I took of some of the beautiful environments in Monument Valley. I really love the color palettes in this game.
Images from installations by Pip & Pop. My eyes... They are unworthy, and drooling.Â
Charlie Immer, my favorite.Â
A painting from this semester.
Bathroom Makeover
I finally got around to redoing the bathroom. I ended up pretty much basing the makeover on a shower curtain from World Market that I really like.
I didn't get a photo of how it was decorated before (whitish walls and cabinets, red towels and rugs, light seashell type theme) , but here is a 'before' when it was stripped down to start the work.
And here it is after!
:D
My Ikea (aneboda) dresser "hack"
I didn’t take a ‘before’ picture, but here is one I found.
And ‘after’…..
Colors aren’t as accurate as I’d like on here but yeah. ‘Cozumel’ paint in gloss by Behr, and acrylic-painted matte board panels.
Now that I’m looking at it on here, I’m bothered by some details so I might not be quite done.
Poe + Dulac pt. 2
This is one of my favorites by Poe.
Alone
"From childhood's hour I have not been As others were---I have not seen As others saw---I could not bring My passions from a common spring. From the same source I have not taken My sorrow; I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone; And all I lov'd, I loved alone. Then---in my childhood---in the dawn Of a most stormy life---was drawn From ev'ry depth of good and ill The mystery which binds me still: From the torrent, or the fountain, From the red cliff of the mountain, From the sun that 'round me roll'd In its autumn tint of gold--- From the lightning in the sky As it pass'd me flying by--- From the thunder and the storm, And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view."
I would like to share a few of my favorite artists.
They are Arthur Rackham (1867-1939), Edmund Dulac (1882-1953) and Warwick Goble (1862-1943). These artists proved that watercolors are magic. I haven't yet had the opportunity to take a watercolor class, but I look forward to it.
The last one is a modern artist, Erin Kelso, who I found on Deviant Art under the name Bluefooted. Her art is digital but some of it has a watercolor look as well.
p.s. If you like any of these, you should check out their other works. I can only share ten images so I picked some of my favorites, but there are many other amazing ones.
Self Portrait Sculpture
Our final project in Design was to create a self portrait. It was supposed to be meaningful, about who we are, etc. People mostly did assemblage type stuff. I will just let you guess the meaning yourself (in other words, I'm not getting into that).
