I fell in love with this little tucked away cafe the moment I saw it. I’ve always loved secret hideouts (as a kid it was my dream to have one...not that it isn’t now) and this just had that cool secret feel. Not only that, it was Japanese fusion?!?!?! SOLDDDDDD. In a heat of excitement, Lala and I ordered all the macaron flavours (minus coconut since that ain’t to our taste), a matcha muffin with red bean and cream cheese inside, two toasted sandwiches and two tea lattes.
The winners:
Matcha, jasmine tea and charcoal sesame macarons were amazing!! The tea ones were fragrant but not overpowering (unlike the lavender one) and creates an automatic inhalation of appreciation. The charcoal sesame macaron was just beautiful (if you like sesame) as it tasted like black sesame ice cream with a hint of smokiness.
The muffin was just perfect. It had that lovely crunchy muffin top, super moist inside with red bean past running through it and a ball of cream cheese hiding inside. Suuuuper yummy
The toasted chicken sandwich was a total winner, although we didn’t get to try the braised pork neck one, which we suspect would’ve been awesome, but it was sold out *cries*. The use of enochi mushrooms and wasabi mayo was a yummy Japanese twist to the sandwich and made it so perfect.
Lastly, the chai and matcha lattes were served in such cute bowl-like cups and were perfect to warm our hands with. For me, I loved the matcha, but Lala enjoyed the chai more!! The chai latte was much less sweet than any chai I’ve ever had so if you don’t like sweet drinks this could be for you!
