teen who only recently realized the thing she's wanted most in life is to feel understood
this revelation was preceded by making her way into the demon realm on accident, to a place called the Boiling Isles, where she met a witch named Eda and a little demon named King, and she then decided wanted to learn to be a witch
shenanigans ensued
oh also there's this whole thing where the Boiling Isles had this Emperor who enforced a rule that witches had to join covens and were then only allowed to do one type of magic, and Eda didn't want to do that, so she was basically a criminal
Also that Emperor was actually a human witch hunter in disguise trying to wipe out all witches because of some centuries-old grudges and beliefs
Anyway, Luz fought that guy, died briefly, got brought back to life, and then fought him again and managed to defeat him and end his reign... but at the cost of losing her ability to do magic
She still has her Palisman, Stringbean, to keep her company, but now she's gotta try to figure out who she is without her glyph magic abilities.
