Having an amazing partner is absolutely essential to bathing suit shopping
Keeping quiet about your trauma to prevent a powder keg from exploding.
the night before pope francis died so like 24 hours after my baptism i got into a polite argument with my trad uber driver on my way to an easter party wherein i staunchly defended the honor of the jesuits and pope francis. that’s how ride or die i am. not even roman catholic and my first religious disagreement as a christian was for them
just because someone can articulate their point better doesn’t make them right, it makes them articulated.
and you aren’t stupid for having trouble articulating yourself.
I’ve learned the best way to get people genuinely interested in Christianity is by being very very kind and very VERY autistic about the unconditional love of Mary mother of God
ive said this before but it was on my old blog so I'm saying it again
dehumanizing abusers is not effective at doing anything other than make people think they're ontologically incapable of violence
it's also creating a class of people who you can abuse while telling yourself that you're Good and Moral and Not an Abuser.
if you dehumanize the caught abusers then the uncaught abusers will use their humanity as proof of innocence
if you dehumanize the hypothetical abusers you create incentives for false accusations as a means of dehumanization whenever dehumanization is desired for other reasons
It is also really unhelpful for anyone actually caught in an abusive situation. people's abusers don't typically go "hey yeah I was going to do a bunch of evil today and harras you just a heads up" you know? They have a logic and a justification and they aren't some strange, inhuman moster. They're just some guy (gender neutral) and they will have their kind moments as well (sometimes as a deliberate tactic to trap their victims further sometimes just because people are capable of multides and evil does not automatically lock you out of all kind actions from that point on)
Humans are perfectly capable of evil and the best way to deal with said evil is to acknowledge that, not to act like evil humans have switched species because of their evilness
I don't want dating apps. I wanna meet a man the old fashioned way: I see him across the room at a ball and ask my friend who he is, and when she realizes I've taken a fancy to him, she drags me across the room and forces us to talk to each other.
pov: you are a jane austen character
Did you mean
How I imagined the dating scene as a child
Father: A friend of the family has asked permission to court you.
Me: Nay! [haughtily] Never shall I wed.
~
Me: [enters dance] [pays no attention to anyone]
Boy: Pray tell me who is that spectral apparition of beauty I must ask her to dance with me
~
Me: [gets invited to Pride and Prejudice-like dance thing]
Me: [sits in the corner and plays the piano]
Boys: [are impressed]

Imagine getting to keep them
You were my home
Matt Fradd says women aren’t funny so I decided to educate him by commenting on this video with links of videos of every hilarious woman I find.
Join my crusade if you will.
The thing is that what we each find funny is subjective. There's lots of comedy that people I know find hilarious, but I try it and can't raise so much as a smile. And vice versa too.
I think that sometimes it can depend on the type of comedy.
I will say that there are far fewer female stand up comedians that I find funny.
That's not to say that there aren't women who do really funny stand up. But I tend to go the extremes. I either find them hilarious or deeply unfunny, nowhere in between.
There are plenty of actresses that give fantastic comedy performances, though. And that's not to be sniffed at, by any means.
The problem is if the critics who choose who gets on camera are biased against women, then they’re less likely to put female comedians on camera. Less female comedians on camera means the general public thinks there aren’t as many funny women in the world as there are funny men.
“I don’t see many funny women therefore there are not many funny women.”
