Patience is not one of Vivi’s strong points and so when this intruding stranger practically gawks at her instead of explaining, she’s more annoyed than flattered. Normally she loved this kind of attention but not this time, not when she’s having a terrible morning and not when he’s still sitting at her desk!
She took out an id from her wallet and slid it towards the foolish man, “My name is Viviane Ava Ire. As you can see, I teach Chemistry, hence you’re in my classroom.” His explanation that followed seemed believable and even if he did apologize, she’s still a little on edge. What a monday this was turning out to be and it’s only just begun… Sigh.
“And besides, why else would there be bunsen burners instead of microscopes here?” She ran a hand down her face, unable to believe this numbskull was in her presence. Who even thought it was a good idea to hire this supposedly new teacher if he can’t even find his own classroom?
She was ready to scold him once more. Give him a piece of her mind and list down the reasons why he should have been more prepared if it was his first day. Something about first impressions mattered, especially to teenagers he’ll have to teach. She handled the superior kind of science, but for the sake of the students that took up Biology, he needed to be a good teacher, too.
Her speech, however, was distracted by the sudden offering. Simple as the sandwiches were, it caught her by surprise when he spoke up and acted all buddy-buddy. “H-hold on just a minute, Mister. No one’s eating in my classroom.” She took back her id, stashed it in her wallet and eyed the man cautiously. He looked like a harmless lost puppy, if anything. Nothing to be cautious about… and those sandwiches did look good. She didn’t get a chance to order anything while getting her morning coffee because of the incident, so she admitted to feeling hungry…
“..I’m accepting this sandwich, but you’re far from being forgiven. Understand?” She took the container from his hands before he can take it back. On closer inspection, it looked yummy. He even had scrambled eggs on his other containers too… what was this, a picnic? She placed her bag down on the table and cleared her throat. Something was still off. “I won’t kick you out, but, get off my chair, please.”
The confidence that Rod had in believing he had the correct classroom disappeared as soon as he sees the id. Instead of feeling embarrassed over his mistake, he found himself looking at the id presented to him more closely. The picture attached looked so formal but even through a 1x1 image, the silver-haired woman appeared striking. One look could charm you in an instant. She was just around his age too, just a year younger. Not only that, she was a busy body that handled two subjects, Drama and Chemistry.
She does look like the type to be in drama...
Then there was her name. It sounded foreign to him but it suited her. It wasn’t just her features that had an instant appeal to him, her entire personality was loud and commanding. It was clear as day that this person was the type used to getting her way and possessed just enough authority and charm to make sure it stays that way. It was intimidating, yet exciting.
He looked up from her id back to her and wondered why she seemed to be so on edge just because of a simple mistake. She must be thinking how much of an idiot he is right now... “I thought the classrooms just had everything in it. For convenience, you know? I guess not, huh... but thanks for correcting me!”
A mistake’s a mistake, and Rod will own up to it and make sure it won’t be repeated. He took out his own id and showed it proudly, a wide grin spreading across his face, “Rodney West, Biology Teacher. But Rod would do just fine, he he.” He pocketed it straight away and moved over, not wanting to keep a lady waiting any more than he did right now. He’s just glad he took the peace offering. That must mean she’s not too bad! She warned him about eating in the classroom but she was even eyeing his scrambled eggs, so maybe...
“I’m really sorry again for the mix-up. You can have the scrambled eggs if you want?” Taking a nearby chair, he took a seat right next to his new acquaintance and invited himself to have breakfast with her. He pushed the container full of scrambled eggs towards her and offered it too. “I like to think I cooked it just right this morning. Not too salty and incredibly fluffy! Try it!”
