What a throwback this was turning out to be, and it was far from being the good kind. Sure enough, both their dominant natures clashed too often for comfort, and they argued many times in the past. Even Vivi can admit he was a sweet boyfriend at times, but gifts or fancy words cannot erase everything else that happened between them. “And I don’t like your tone. Period.”
She allowed him the time to speak. To vent. To make him think he has her in a corner and that he can guilt trip her into submitting. Silly Allen. When all was said and a sigh escaped him, it was Vivi’s turn to say her piece. “Don’t act innocent, hun. It doesn’t suit you.”
“Is your memory that selective, or did you forget you were far from being a professional the last time we talked? Honey, I can quote you to every word if you need a reminder.” He can sigh and make it seem like she’s being the bitter bitch here, but she is never one to forgive so easily once crossed. It would take more than just sweet talk to get her to look at him decently, and if he wavered so easily from one rejection, then perhaps it’s better that they are just that: exes.
“You doubted me. You insulted me. You refused to believe in the possibility I can let go in my own terms. You tried to control me. You didn’t believe me.” If his goal is to make her miss him, it’s working right now. But the one she missed was the Allen he knew at the beginning, not the one full of mistrust. She admits she can be… extreme. That her feelings for someone are strong. But even back then she entertained the idea of letting go. She just needed time. Time he refused to give.
“If you want me to pretend everything is fine and go back to old habits, look elsewhere. I’m a queen, not your princess.” Arms now crossed, she looks him dead in the eye, amber meeting dark blue. “Unless you apologize and cut the crap, I won’t ever talk to you.”
「 Admittedly, Allen grew too confident after saying what he did. He remained civil despite growing apart and he made sure to remain so once their paths crossed again. She’s the aggressive one, and he was certain he made an impact on her after placing all his cards on the table. Joke’s on him, for right after he said his peace, it turned out she had more cards to play. 」
「 Falling silent as Vivi spoke, Allen could only take in every word she said, the effects he hoped to have on her now slapping him on the face. That wasn’t a fair point in time to remember. Everyone was entitled to have some spite and bitterness in their tone during an argument and a break-up. He thought it would end up with them settling their differences in bed, but instead, he found himself thrown out. Who can blame him if he said what he did? It was all true. Her heart was always elsewhere, and he wasn’t blind. He can feel her affection, both for himself and someone else. As a selfish man, there was only so much he can take. 」
「 Still, admitting that only meant he really wasn’t the professional guy he sold himself to be. At least, in that moment. He made up for it afterwards, but like she said, pretending does nothing. And his bewitching princess certainly wasn’t one to easily forgive and forget. "Vivi.” He managed to speak now after all that she said, her glare intimidating him, but not enough to scare him away. No sweet talks, no other nicknames, just the one she prefers being called. His pride was just as hard to reach as hers, too high up for anyone’s own good but he was still a gallant man in the end, and such an angry expression never suited her. He reached for her, unfolding her arms and taking both her hands to hold it with his. “I can’t take back what I said. And I meant it then, you can’t take that away from me. I have the right to be angry.” 」
「 Insulting her and trying to dictate everything she had to do, however, was not part of a right of a boyfriend. “I never intended to go back, as you put it. However, I refuse to be spiteful strangers, too.” He never really did apologize properly. Just showed up at times, flirted a little. If there was ever a time limit for apologies, he hoped he wasn’t too late. “I’m sorry. I said more than I should have, and I can’t make excuses for that. I’m sorry.” 」
「 Fingers caressing her palm, he attempted to calm her down, ease her anger somehow. And he would have continued doing just that if it weren’t for sudden whispers that reached his ears, right behind him that belonged to high school girls. This wasn’t the best place for a heart-to-heart or a sincere apology, and the awareness of this flustered him up some. He quickly released her hands and brushed his fringes up above his forehead, eyes quick to look away. “You don’t have to forgive me. And if you want me to stop bothering you, then I will.” 」
