Remus and Lily Headcanons
Part two of my Lily headcanon series (Sirius and Lily here!). We all know Remus and Lily were the platonic loves of their lives, but I also propose: chaotic evil Lily and lawful evil Remus. Requested by @wolfstarsthings.
Send me more requests here, I’d love to write something for you!
Lily almost sat with Remus on their first train to Hogwarts, but some jerk with big round glasses pushed her out of the way and stole her spot before she could get there
Lily and Remus start a tea club; every week they meet and brew a different kind of tea and sample the various crackers that McGonagall lays out for them they’re the only members
Always fighting about who is smarter; will literally burn libraries to the ground before they admit they’re wrong about some tiny insignificant fact
“Oh yeah, well what’s the optimal temperature to brew Volubilis?”
“You don’t even know the answer to that!”
For Lily’s birthday, Remus always buys her a bouquet of roses or daisies or daffodils, but never lilies, and it makes her laugh every time
Remus and Lily sit next to each other at dinner and steal food from each other’s plates when they aren’t looking, and Lily never gets caught because Remus thinks Sirius is the culprit
Lily will blame Sirius for almost anything to maintain her innocence, and Remus never suspects it’s her
Remus has a bad habit of biting his nails, so Lily offers to paint his nails to discourage his horrid habit
At first, he complains, but he secretly loves it, especially when she picks all the colors of the rainbow for the summer holidays in June
Lily’s bad habit is her absolutely filthy sailor’s mouth
She can out-swear even James when he’s revved up about a Quidditch loss
Remus tries to make a swear jar, but Lily’s out of money before the day is even half over and it only makes her swear louder
Remus and Lily bond over their love for candles, and even go out on candle making dates when they spend a couple days together during the winter holiday
Remus didn’t tell Lily that he was a werewolf; she just waited in the courtyard one night as the full moon was rising, arms crossed on her chest, waiting for James, Sirius and Remus to stumble out of the castle, because she already knew
She stood guard underneath the Whomping Willow all night, every full moon of their seventh year, to keep wandering students away
After every moon, Lily visits Remus in the infirmary and gives him a bar of chocolate and a little stuffed animal
He names them all and keeps them in a box under his bed
Whenever Lily receives a nasty note from her sister or misses her muggle life, Remus is always right there with an arm around her shoulder, quietly reading her favorite book to her
At one point, Remus and Lily get so close that James pulls him aside and asks if they’re dating, and Remus falls onto the ground and nearly dies of laughter
Remus was the one who suggested Lily be made Head Girl
When Lily becomes the fourth Marauder P*ter who?, not even Remus can reign in her tyranny
Remus forces Lily to dye his hair when he hears that Sirius thinks colored hair is cool, but she accidentally bleaches his hair and they have to buzz his beautiful curls off Sirius secretly still thinks he’s hot
Remus is the only person that can sometimes beat Lily at Wizard’s Chess
She’s a chess QUEEN, not even Dumbledore can beat her
Remus told Lily that he thought he might not be on hundred percent straight on the last day of their fourth year
Lily automatically asks about Sirius and Remus flushes tomato-red because who said anything about Sirius?
So when it finally happens, Lily’s scream almost shatters every window in Hogwarts
She realizes that it means she’s going to have to tolerate Sirius Black on an hourly basis now, but she does it for Remus
Lily is the one who suggests that Remus and Sirius join James on a double date
She immediately regrets it as soon as the boys walk down the street wearing matching sweaters that say he’s mine, but Sirius’ arrow is pointing the wrong way, towards James
Lily can hold her alcohol like no other, but Remus can’t, so she spends plenty of nights lugging this half-man half-werewolf over her shoulder and tucking him into bed she always kisses him goodnight
Lily wanted to become an animagus, too, but could just never manage to get the right transformation, and James made her give it up before she got hurt
Remus is a great scrapbooker, so for their graduation, he makes Lily a collage of all their favorite memories, filled with pictures and little mementos
A pressed four leaf clover from the time they ditched their first class together and fell asleep in the fields surrounding Hogwarts
A tea packet from the meeting of their club when Remus admitted to liking a boy in their class
A red ribbon from their Halloween costume one year, when Lily was Red Riding Hood and Remus was the Big Bad Wolf
After they graduate, Remus and Lily still hold tea club every week, but this time they slip a bit of alcohol in, too
James and Sirius go out to the pub so they don’t have to deal with the tears that come when a very drunk Lily and Remus turn on the Hallmark channel movies
James asks for Remus’ help in choosing an engagement ring for Lily, because he knows exactly what she likes
Remus helps plan the proposal too, stringing up all the lights in the middle of the forest and charms the perfect symphony of crickets and lightning bugs
At the wedding, Remus hardly makes it through his co-best man speech, and Lily is up there in her beautiful dress hugging him with tears in the corners of her eyes, too
Lily tells Remus she’s pregnant by gifting him a baby book, and he doesn’t get it at first
Sirius is the one screaming over his shoulder, jumping all over James
When Harry is born, he already has a library of books that rivals Hogwarts’, all gifted by Uncle Moony
Harry’s first word is Moomy, and Lily and Remus argue over whether he said Moony or Mommy
On Halloween night, Remus strolls up to the Potter’s house with big dog ears pinned in his hair and a black spot on his nose, but where there was once a house is now steaming piles of charred ash
He digs through the wispy remains of books and photos, and even finds a red and gold scarf, half-burned, that falls apart in his fingers
Every Halloween, Remus visits the site where the Potter’s house once stood and lays a bouquet of lilies on the grassy knoll
