Waiting for them to get into their softest, most comfortable pajamas and helping them out if they need it, closing any buttons and maneuvering their arms into the sleeves while they yawn so tiredly after playing all afternoon.
heating them up some milk or sugar water, bottle feeding them if theyre too small and tired to do it themselves, or even if they just want to be pampered a tad bit more than usual. Maybe id even sneak them a cookie or a small piece of candy.
If their hair is straight or wavy, id brush it for them, and if its long enough, id be braiding it so any tangles and knots are avoided, using a hair tie of their favorite color, as always.
when they lay down, id tuck them in with their stuffie, and if allowed, id pet them or press a kiss to their forehead, making sure my dove knows they are loved in a manner most comfortable for them.
reading them a simple fairytale book if they still cant sleep and playing soft piano tunes with them close to me if they need help calming down from a nightmare.
Checking under their bed “just in case” and reassuring them that im not leaving, that im always gonna keep them safe from any monsters or anything scary.
staying by their side until they fall asleep, turning off the nightstand lamp so it does not bother them too much when they inevitably turn and toss around in their sleep.
id be staring at them fondly before I walk quietly into the hall, ready to do some housework or drawing a few sketches before getting some rest myself.
“darling, you know we cant have you staying up for that long. You wont have any will or energy to play tomorrow if you dont rest.” I scold softly, there is no anger or disappointment. I begin to think that they are so, so sleepy that they likely dont even process whats going on judging by how they only nod in response to anything I say.
smiling through their sleepy whines of protest as i tuck them in, knowing that they do need some sleep, even if they are refusing to accept it, only managing to get them to sleep by using sweet praises and promises of more playtime tomorrow.
“Good night, dear” I mumble as I kiss their forehead, caressing their pretty hand while making sure theyre deep in sleep before walking away.
It is my first time writing an imagine using something other than bullet point adjacent sentences. I hope its enjoyable despite my lack of experience.
Remember to sleep, and if its too hard then to rest your eyes and body for a while, sitting down or meditating.
making sure to use recipes that will fill them and also support them with a wide variety of nutrients.
altering recipes to better fit my dove’s tastes in texture or flavor.
giving them their favorite cutlery, making sure its never soapy tasting or dirty.
Serving them their food on a plate of their favorite color, cartoon or pattern, it is a special one only for them to use.
having any kind of cup ready, as sometimes they might be very small and need accommodations, or perhaps just like being a bit more clingy. and id hold their bottle if they wanted me to.
food served especially for the occasion, making them something warm if its cold outside, or making them frozen fruit sticks if its hot.
making their favorite to celebrate whenever good news arrive.
themed lunch with fruit cut up and sandwiches in cute shapes.
cutting up their food in bites.
feeding them when they’re regressed so, so tiny, holding the fork for them to eat.
making ice lollies with them, letting my baby pick out the flavors, or if they want to use yogurt instead of juice.
making breakfast for us both, ensuring that my little one has enough energy to start the day.
preparing snacks for the week, making a batch of cookies with them in their favorite flavor, maybe its butter or maybe it is oatmeal, perhaps chocolate chip, but ill help them get the dough done and into the oven.
Helping them hydrate, as maybe they forget to drink enough water. If they dont want water, making lemonade or getting them electrolyte heavy drinks so they dont get headaches during the day.
just letting my dove eat whenever they need to, helping them listen to what their body needs…
Please remember to take care of your body, it does a lot of work everyday! And listen to your needs and limits, it is important, after all.
