the one night.
Gwi sat in the car as they drove him home. He was still dressed in the clothes that he has worn last night but he felt different in them.
Last night…
He looked out the window and let a small sigh escape his lips as his fingers touched the corner of them. He could still feel her lips on his. He could still feel the slight smile on her breath as she kissed him, as he…
“Seja Jeoha,.”
He turned at the sound of the voice, his head of security looking at him from the front of the car.
“Is everything okay?”
“Uh… yes, everythings fine.” Gwi said, as he looked out the window and sighed at the sight of the palace.
He knew that getting out and looking for her again was not a good idea. And he wouldn’t be able to because now Captain Jo wasn’t going to let him out of his sight for even the most miniscule of minutes. And asking the Captain to look for this woman on behalf of him was completely out of the question.
But as he leaned back intot he car he bit his lip and thought about the woman from last night. Maybe that was all that it was going to be, a wonderful memory of an amazing night.

He looked at her with a curious frown as she spoke, he didn’t really understand what she was talking about. And then she put her hands together and made a small flame in her palms and he just blinked at her.
“Oh.”
That was all he said to her revelation, to the reveal that she had been hiding. His mind stirred and worked for a moment as he tried to think of something to say. Should he ask her if she had known what he was? If she understood what it was like? Should he tell her that they do have a family sorceress and she was able to keep his true vampiric side subdued and inside of him so that he could live a fairly normal life. Should he tell her that it changes nothing.
But instead what came out was.
“Madame Goh will probably ask you for some help with some back pain issues she has.”
Because Gwi was used to magic, and maybe he wasn’t really used to anything else. It seemed so normal to him. It probably would have been more of a surprise to hear her tell him that she had a criminal past that she had to make him aware of.
Magic?
“Oh,” he began again. “Sorry, that was probably not the response you wanted.”
He took a moment.
“You called yourself a monster,” he said, cautiously. “But you’re just a witch.”
While still nervous, Zelda didn’t truly expect for Gwi to judge her harshly on what she was, given that he was also a supernatural being forced to engage in a mortal world. However, his matter-of-fact attitude did surprise her somewhat. As his comment that others in the palace would use it for the most mundane things. Hearing his apology, Zelda looked back up at Gwi.
“You don’t need to apologize, I’m just...surprised is all. I didn’t expect you to judge me on this fact, but...it sounds like other people in the palace are used to magic enough to use it for such purposes...”
He spoke again and she laughed, but it was harsh, without any mirth.
“Gwi, have you heard of the Salem Witch Trials? The Spanish Inquisition? The Hammer of Witches? I don’t know how things are over here, other than not finding any active groups of hunters, but in the cultures I came from, I am very much considered a monster. When we were more widely known about, the mere hint that someone might be a witch or consorted with one was enough to have them tortured and killed. And while most have consigned witches back into fairytales and fiction, there are still those out there who hunt people like me down, and they are very, very good at it. I came to Korea to escape that, and so far I’ve been safe. However, I don’t know what will happen once I start having to appear with you in public. Will someone back in America or Europe figure out what I am? How would they react to the fact that something they so despise gaining political power? Or to the fact that the future heir to the Korean Throne might be a witch themselves?”
