lance as sinbad. (the smug and handsome captain of the ship, infamous for being a thief, but has a really big heart nevertheless)

keith as marina. (sneaks aboard lance’s ship to make sure he retrieves the book of peace (?), his relationship with lance definitely doesn’t start out well, but he eventually ends up falling for him along the way. wink)

hunk as kale. (Thicc. lance’s right hand man and the occasional voice of reason. just.. a beautiful guy overall)

pidge as an intelligent version of rat. (hangs around the top of the ship most of the time to keep an eye out for potential risks/danger/obstacles)

#which - kind of makes you realize how small#he probably was against most aliens #in the arena and the pens#its easy to forget #when you just see him around the team#but even Slav seems like a runt compared #to the other Bytor they rescued#in the first season #for the first time in his life#Shiro was overwhelmingly the small one #that missing year {via @headspacedad }

this reminds me of {this meta} about how Shiro learned to fight in the arena - Shiro fights like a small person even though by human standards he’s a big guy. he’s very flexible and adaptable and uses his surroundings to his advantage. and it’s because he spent a year fighting against aliens who were mostly huge monsters. for that missing year… he was the small one.
