if cultures are constantly shifting why are the same groups of people still politically and socially treated like shit? why do we still have marginalized groups? why do we still have systemic racism? you can’t push an entire group of people out of their home then steal their culture for profit. this youtuber as an individual didn’t kick any natives off their land, but as a white person it’s still his responsibility to not take someone else’s culture and certainly not profit off of it (i believe some proceeds were being donated but i’m not positive if all)
“but that’s not fair that white people can’t appreciate things from other cultures” first off, you CAN appreciate. but using a piece of native american culture as your brand when you are white isn’t appreciating, it’s appropriating. and no, white people can’t do it. not in the current world we live in. id love to live in a place where we can all share cultures and ideas but there is no culture equality right now. there’s no race equality. no ethnic equality. that is the problem. the problem isn’t that white people are using native american culture, it’s that it’s being done without doing anything to make up for the past
