You have GOT to stop saying shit like "not defending his actions." There is nothing to defend. He has a disease. All of his actions, including stealing shit, are part of his disease. And no, he is not persona non grata. There are plentyo f shitty people in this fandom who role with the " loser" jokes and garbage, but there are decent people who do better. Broad strokes are not helpful.

I get where you're coming from, and it wasn't my intention to use broad strokes. I added that preemptively because people online really love attacking others and go "you're glorifying addiction just because he's hot". That was my intention when I used "not defending his actions". And I am on the main sub reddit a lot and while, thankfully, many people acknowledge this is a disease and he needs help, many quickly turned on him and had no problem being loud about it

Can we post whatever we want in the kingdon reddit? Shipping discourse?

I have a rule against shipping discourse because I am running that page on my own, and I can't be online all the time to moderate in case something takes a nasty turn. That sub is just for Kingdon. We can vent about our frustrations (how the ship is being treated for example), but please do not go beyond that.

Anyways, we are still a small community but you can join us 😊

The Pitt reddit is full of grown men who have never in their lives set foot in fandom. They simply do not understand shipping. Unless two characters say "I love you" and kiss, these types of fans don't believe characters can or will get together.

I have also noticed a certain ... category ... of men who have latched onto Mel because of her kindness and because she's NB and they think she is way too good for Langdon or to be in a relationship at all. So that's where a lot of Reddit shipping discourse comes from.

This is a good point. But again I feel like sharing a space with people like this is not healthy and it's not like you can gush about your ship in peace anyways. That's why I prefer dedicated spaces and why I created the Kingdon subreddit.

I guess Frank is a persona non grata in the fandom fpr now (disheartening to see how people with addictions get treated. Not defending his actions, but understanding the context is important in a character like him), so people might feel overprotective of Mel? Which is fair to an extent. She's an adult and her own person. Also fictional. So obviously people are going to explore shipping dynamics sooner or later.

Reddit anon back. There is (unsurprisingly) discourse about people shipping Mel and Langdon on Reddit. I made a post that was like let’s just chill and ignore things that we disagree with, and two people were like “shipping wars ruin fandoms, but I think this ship is gross and I’m gonna make it everyone’s problem”. I just don’t know why I even try anymore

Shipping is kind of a controversial topic in fandoms, especially in media where romance isn't the main focus (like in The Pitt), I have been in fandoms for decades and... it can get really ugly really fast (people just lack basic internet etiquette and go to extremes over ships). Obviously that person calling it gross is entitled to their opinion (poor choice of words though), but I advise you to keep shipping discussions away from the main sub. It's not worth it.
