This goes for any language!
I find it ludicrous that some people think that having a B2 in a language isn't enough? That the CEFR is treated like a ladder where everyone has to climb to the C2 at the top to "master" the language. And that being at the B levels means you aren't smart enough, or doing enough.
I talked to a girl recently who asked me about my levels in the languages I'm learning, which I honestly never know how to answer because I'm learning by myself, I don't take any classes or tests or exams or have anyone who could tell me what my level is. And as usual, I told her I'm somewhere in the B levels. And she just responded with "if you've been learning these languages for so many years, why are you only at the B levels?" And I just... can't. Maybe I'm just not interested in academic and technical texts? Maybe I don't need to use elaborate and complex phrases and sentences to get my point across? Maybe because I'm learning multiple languages at the same time for fun?
I've struggled for years with feeling inadequate in my languages learning, like I'm not smart enough or learning fast enough. But this isn't a race to the top of the CEFR ladder. And I just don't have the time, energy or interest to put hundreds of hours into learning things I don't think I'll ever want or need to use. And even though it's my hobby and something that brings me joy, learning languages is HARD for me, and keeping all the knowledge in my head is even harder.
some blue stuff at the ć¹ć¼ćć¼
I was (very gently to be fair) admonished at work for not double-checking my posts before I send them off to my coworker to be triple-checked.
The bummer is that I already spend like 3 minutes per sentence checking my work!!! Itās just really hard to do this in a second language lol.
This is how I'm going to start responding
incredible how picking up all the clothes from around the room and throwing them into the closet and closing the closet takes like 5 minutes but makes a massive difference

When learning something new or honing a skill people will drill into you that you need to do the thing every single day to get better at it.
And let me be clear. In most circumstances? Ideal scenario. But we live in the real world and the real world has depression and screaming toddlers and 9-5 jobs.
Itās fine if you personally canāt do the thing every day. Just get back to it when you can. You donāt need to do something perfectly for it to be worth doing.
Languages tend to peak at their word for butterfly. Never seen 2 that are the same, either. Papillon. Mariposa. Borboleta. Fluture. Vlinder. Schmetterling. Pillangó. Babochka. Farfalla. Sommerfugl. Perhonen. Farasha. Titali. ChÅchÅ. Nabi. HĆŗdiĆ©. Buom buom. Great job guys, i really mean it.

Already almost time to sign up for JLPT???
saturday morning journaling and reading at a cafe ft. a banana bread latte. life changing.
A girl of about 6 or 7 was babbling nonsense words at her mom and I thought to myself 'she should be able to form real words and sentences by this age' but then the mom responded in kind and I realized 'oh wait, they're speaking french'.
love the word fruitless. arguing with you is like if there was no apples involved whatsoever
