“Secrets are everywhere. Some humans are crammed full of them. How do they not explode? It seems to be a hallmark of the human species: abysmal communication skills.” ― Shelby Van Pelt, Remarkably Bright Creatures
A world where you have a special animal soul companion, you get them at like...age five. Your parents take you for the ceremony. Since they are super magical they can change size so...larger sized animals can shrink so no one has to figure out how to like in an apartment with like...an elephant.
Find out your companion here *jazz hands*
Do you love them? Do you hate them?
How would your parents react to your new bestie?
mickey 17 is for the people who hate capitalism and also clicked YES on the ‘would u fuck ur clone’ poll
Mickey 17 + baby creepers
nasha barridge is the character of all time. she's a firefighter and a security guard and a martial artist. she loves her pathetic ass boyfriend more than anyone. dating two clones at once isn't a dealbreaker for her. she can snap a fascist's neck with her legs while holding onto a rope with her teeth. she breaks down giggling over doodles of stick figures having sex. she starts a riot in the cafeteria to defend her boyfriend from bullies. she's stayed with her boyfriend while he dies more than once. she's compassionate and wise and supportive and also jealous and hotheaded and messy. and she's in space!
the fact that sex played such a huge role in Mickey 17 isn't just a fun hot little addition to a good movie about antifascism - it's intrinsic.
They want your sexuality repressed unless you're procreating the "right kind" of babies.
Nasha wants Mickey to be able to grow old with her so that she can suck him off for the rest of her god damned life. Nasha wants to know the name of every sexual position so intimately that her sopping wet boyfriend and her can use the names as a secret code in public. Nasha wants to have sex to feel ALIVE and full of joy. Nasha is going to break federal law to have a threesome with her boyfriend and his clone and she's gonna be high as a fucking kite when she does it. Sexual expression IS resisting fascism because the joy of fucking connects us and gives us something to fight for. Nasha is a hero and her sexuality is intrinsic to it.

underrated yellowjackets scene is misty storming through the door of nat‘s hotel room while nat is mid-relapse, bodyslamming nat into next week, just fucking snorting all the cocaine before nat can get to it and then fighting for her fucking life because, evidently, misty quigley has never done cocaine ever before. zero thought process, zero consideration, zero alternatives. misty quigley woman of all time.
One thing about Obsession (2026) that I enjoyed was that it almost asks you to feel empathy for the entity possessing Nikki as well as the real one. Like, obviously the things she's doing are horrific and fucked up, but I think the scene where Bear is asking her to "just be Nikki!" and she eventually just desperatly screams "I can't be Nikki!" does a really good job of showcasing the entity's inner feelings. She's been created with the sole purpose of loving this guy more than anyone else but no matter how perfect it is or how much he claims to love her, its not her that he loves, its Nikki. And any time she stops pretending to be Nikki, he reacts (albeit rightfully) with disgust and horror. She can't be Nikki because Nikki would never love Bear, and so Bear will never love her.
Did the production crew on the Truman Show train him to respond a certain way to the paid advertisements. Because I have to imagine maybe it wouldn't go over well for a brand re: advertisement if Truman himself seemed bored/disinterested during the ad. So when he was a small child, did they Pavlov him into enjoying the experience of having an ad delivered at his face. Did they slip him a treat or pair the ads with events like Christmas or his birthday every time they did an ad, so that he would subconsciously want to pay attention to an ad, because his brain subconsciously associated being advertised to with only good things/rewards? How about the brands with the more subtle advertising? How many millions if not billions were spent on Truman to be fed a certain brand of pasta or soft drink, to enjoy toys from a particular brand? Truman hypothetically only knowing the toy store as the Fischer Price store. "Come on, Nestle is your favorite!" How much of his life and particularly his childhood was constructed around selling advertisements to people watching his life on TV, who were influenced by his being influenced? Can you imagine a fond childhood memory like "hot dog lunch Tuesday" at your school where you remember being hyped up by your teachers to enjoy getting to go outside and eat hot dogs, only to learn that this was engineered entirely as a product placement for Oscar Meyer? How much despair might you feel if your entire existence, your most cherished experiences, your childhood nostalgia, everything you had, was centered around using you to sell someone else you didn't even know existed a brand of toothpaste? That your entire life, even if you didn't know it, was an extraction of labor, starting from your very birth? What would you do then? What would you do?

random but here is a recipe for cold peanut noodles that you can make during hot weather because i just ate this and had a fantastic time
2tbsp of peanut butter. a splash of rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup. some chili flakes, some sesame seeds. a splash of water to thin it out. now you put in your noodles (cooled!!!! boiled and rinsed so they’re cold!!) and then some chopped up cucumber or carrot or avocado or cabbage or any crunchy vegetable. i just used cucumber
you can also put in lime juice or herbs or sriracha or grated garlic/ginger or anything like that; tofu/tempe/meat for more protein etc. noodle wise this can be ramen soba udon whatever, i used soba. enjoy homies
