i think despite (rather, because) having lived for so long, flins and zhongli would be the kind of lovers who would appreciate your birthday even more.

for the rare lantern fae or an ancient dragon, your age suggests that you were still a tiny little fae sprite or an itty bitty hatchling. nevertheless, it is precious to see— that is, the way you change over the course of your birthdays. the time you spend with them may be fleeting in their eyes, and yet the fact that it spans for more than half of your life makes the bittersweet reality more bearable to them. if they could give you happiness and engrave their existences in your heart, so you’ll remember them when you eventually leave them, perhaps that thought could be their anchor to remember you fondly on your future birthdays. for even when you can’t celebrate the anniversary of your existence with them anymore, it doesn’t mean they can’t do so in remembrance of your love.

and perhaps one day, once your soul re-emerges from the leylines, there will be one more birthday to add to his long calendar.
