Quietly losing my mind over the fact that Elon Musk has straight up orchestrated a coup of our executive branch and like....I don't even know what, if any, system we have in place to fix this. Like... He's just taken control of the money and locked out the actual appointed officials. What the fuck.
Nazis are taking over my government, and like, not even just the Nazis we fucking elected! And I'm...making hamburgers? Because somebody has to make dinner? I just feel completely unhinged.
I think that's how random civillians generally feel in these situations. Someone's gotta make dinner.
If you're wondering, there is plenty to be done about it, and plenty being done about it already, even if it's not happening instantly in a way you can perceive.
Yes. Let me break it down for you.
Reblogging because this is an excellent article that both tells you about some of what's being done and breaks it down in a way that will help you understand and think about future action. Please read!
Hello,
My name is Ahmad , and I am a 14-year-old.
The war destroyed our life and we lost everything.

Sorry to bother you, my little brother Yousef and my sister Lana have jaundice and their faces have turned pale and yellow. It is serious. They need to be isolated and treated. I cannot afford the expensive treatment of 180€ because my source of income and work has been cut off due to the war we are experiencing in Gaza. Please donate as much as you can to my little brothers. My father is sick and I am the breadwinner of the family. It is very important and humane. Your donation will save the lives of my little brothers and help them recover. I would be very grateful for your help.

if you are on SSDI/Medicare, please contact the ACLU or an appropriate law firm to file a class action suit against the federal government for breach of privacy.

Response post: As a SSDI and Medicare client, I filed a request for a class-action breach of privacy lawsuit request with my state ACLU today. Please file in your state]
I will be contacting the Florida ACLU tomorrow but I also submitted a form to Morgan & Morgan, because the Morgans fuckin' hate Republicans, so it could work.
This is not just about your rights (though that's obviously the most important part), but about slowing down this fascist government. We need to be suing them into oblivion.
what do you mean elon musk did a nazi salute on live tv at the united states presidential inauguration twice and is now erasing the evidence off the internet by replacing the footage with the crowd cheering instead?
would be a shame if people reblogged this, wouldn’t it?
A reminder to the "the American government wouldn't..." crowd. They have. They have made their own internment camps before. They have rounded up innocent citizens and immigrants before. The victims of which are still alive to this day and trying to share their stories with the world, they have been trying to warn us for a long time. George Takei (as seen above) is a famous example of this. He has written about his experiences time and time again, even publishing a book talking about his time in these camps. He may be famous now, but at the time he was just another kid forced from his home. To this day he still firmly dedicates himself to trying to educate and inform people, trying to spread awareness with his platform. The American Government can and will do terrible things. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.
Guantanamo is a particularly evil choice. It’s on Cuban soil, but is essentially a [stolen land] military base for the US. So it isn’t easy for Americans to get to it easily to protest or blockade or deliver supplies or humanitarian aid, for Congresspeople to visit (it is not in any Congressperson’s ‘district’), or for reporters to go and show us the conditions like they did the internment camps during Trump’s first administration (which led to some quick walk-backs of some of the worst parts of the immigration policies, though not all).
People will die and we won’t find out for decades.
I sure am glad interning people at gitmo without trial is something only Orange Man does and not y'know something dating back through biden, obama, and bush. Where the first two outright lied about closing it. Makes u think.
it was clinton that originally used guantanamo to house asylum seekers

The Cairo Genizah stands as one of the most significant collections of medieval documents, offering unparalleled insights into the past. Thi
dear usamerican high schoolers looking for a way to resist fascism: sit through the pledge of allegiance.
no getting up. no looking at the flag.
everyone will be looking at you. you'll be sweating like a fucking hippopotamus. your teacher will sternly tell you to get up. you'll feel stupid and that maybe its not worth it because you're just a kid in a classroom. but I'm here to remind you that there are no real life consequences to detention. there are however real life consequences to resisting a thoughtless performance of nationalism.
not to talk tough but i have sat through every pledge of allegiance in my life, and that includes the bush administration's hyper-patriotic war on terror.
you can NOT be compelled to say the pledge, and that also means you can't be given the 'choice' of doing it or taking a punishment. being sent into the hall is a grey area.
if you are punishing for refusing, parents or a more sympathetic teacher (like say a history or english teacher) can step in to intercede with the principal. do not be afraid to escalate.
it is critical now of all times that you PRACTICE civil disobedience, starting small, sticking to it, and working up, this will help you learn how very much disobedience you can actually get away with in this life, which is actually a hell of a lot.

As of July 15, individuals and groups “aligned” with the Democratic Party had spent nearly $44m on advertising campaigns in support of far-right candidates in California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Maryland, according to Open Secrets, an organisation that tracks election spending.
