It’s incredibly sexist to claim Taylor swift’s dad bought her career
damn you're right. both of her parents worked together to buy her career and I am sorry for disrespecting Andrea Swift in this way

fantastic. i love it. i posted this after my wife said it yesterday and as i was doing it i was like "this can't be an original thought. as soon as i hit post someone's going to say 'you stole this from a tweet from 2014' and i'll say 'no, i stole it from my beautiful wife.'"
doomscrolling thru the weather app
it’s 2014 can taylor swift stop
[id. A twitter post by @/Bennieeexyz Jury duty letter came addressed to my cat. Not a mistake. "Felix Martinez" - that's his full name according to his vet records. My last name. His first name. Somehow he's a registered voter now. Called the county clerk. Me: My cat got summoned for jury duty. Clerk: Is the name correct on the summons? Me: Yes, but he's a cat. Clerk: Is Felix Martinez a legal resident of this county? Me: He's a legal cat. Clerk: Sir, if the name matches our records, he needs to appear or file an exemption. Me: He can't file anything. He has paws. Clerk: You can file on his behalf. Me: Under what exemption? There's no box for "is a cat." Clerk: (pause) Check "unable to serve due to medical reasons." Me: What's the medical reason? Clerk: He's a cat. Me: That's not a medical condition. Clerk: It is if it prevents him from serving. Sent in the form. Got rejected two weeks later. "Insufficient documentation. Please provide medical professional's statement." Took the letter to my vet. Me: I need you to write that my cat can't do jury duty. Vet: Why is your cat summoned for jury duty? Me: Excellent question. No good answer. Vet: This is the weirdest request I've gotten. Me: Can you just write that he's medically unfit to serve? Vet: On what grounds? Me: He's a cat. Vet: (started typing) "Patient is unable to serve due to species-related limitations including inability to speak, read, or comprehend legal proceedings." Me: Perfect. Sent it in. Got another rejection. "Summons is mandatory. Failure to appear will result in contempt of court." My roommate thought this was hilarious. Roommate: Felix is going to jail. Me: This is serious. Roommate: Bring him to court. See what happens. Decided that was actually the only option left. Day of jury duty, put Felix in his carrier. Brought the entire paper trail of rejection letters. Checked in at the courthouse. Clerk: Name? Me: Felix Martinez. Clerk: (looked at the cat carrier) Is that Felix? Me: Yes. Clerk: (long stare) He's a cat. Me: I've been saying that for six weeks. Clerk: Why didn't you file an exemption? Me: I filed three. All rejected. Showed her the letters. She read through them, expression shifting from confusion to disbelief. Clerk: Someone rejected the veterinary documentation? Me: Twice. Clerk: (called her supervisor over) You need to see this. Supervisor read everything. Looked at Felix. Looked at me. Supervisor: How did a cat get registered to vote? Me: You tell me. Supervisor: This is a data error. Me: Took you six weeks to figure that out. They dismissed Felix immediately. Apologized for the inconvenience. Supervisor: We'll remove him from the voter registry. Me: Appreciate it. Supervisor: (pause) Out of curiosity, how would he have voted? Me: Probably whatever party supports universal treats. Got a formal apology letter a week later and a voter registration card. For me this time. Apparently I wasn't registered, but my cat was. Roommate: Felix committed voter fraud. Me: Felix committed nothing. He's innocent. Roommate: That's what they all say. Felix is sleeping on the jury summons now. Fitting end to his legal career. end id]
"There's no platonic explanation for this" <-you need to be nicer to your friends. Right now
God Claudia Sarne really knocked it out of the park with the new Supergirl theme.
It's so good.
my hot take is that tumblr should have a bookmark function as well as likes
I’m gonna need you all to get more obsessed with Supergirl 2026. It’s literally every single sarcastic, messy, depressed, grieving, male lead from recent media that accidentally adopts an angry, young girl (also grieving) which forces him to confront his self destructive behavior and realize the impact he can still make. But she’s a girl. This is the character you all love in every piece of media. I’m begging you all to adore her the same way.
okay so some people in the comments of this excellent post are being genuinely so insensitive so here’s a serious discussion.
1) Making fun of British people because it’s ‘just normal summer heat here lmao get over it and get AC’ is absolutely not fair. Think of it less in terms of ‘oh their summer is 40 degrees Celsius’ and more in terms of ‘their June is 20 degrees Celsius hotter than it would have been five years ago’. Quite simply, our infrastructure cannot handle a twenty degree temperature increase over such a small timeframe of five years and the majority just cannot afford to build new infrastructure such as AC units in homes, school and offices because in case you forgot Britain is currently in a cost of living crisis with an unstable government and we can barely afford to keep up the NHS. If your average summer temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit, imagine trying to live in 120 degrees. That’s what it’s like in Britain right now. Schools are being shut at midday because it’s too dangerous for kids to be in buildings made for retaining heat at peak temperature times. So quite frankly please shut up about that.
2) Justifying those mean comments by saying ‘all British people are evil because their ancestors colonised my country so they deserved it’ is plan wrong and genuinely not okay. Firstly, THE MAJORITY OF BRITISH PEOPLE DO NOT SUPPORT COLONIALISM AND IMPERIALISM. It is taught in History GCSE as a BAD THING. Pretty much all young people in Britain are way too young to have anything to do with colonialism and laughing at kids that had nothing to do with anything and no control over where they were born dying in heatwaves in frankly disgusting. Also, in cities such as London which are badly affected by extreme heat, there are huge volumes of black, non-white, ethnically diverse British people that probably were affected by colonialism. Not everyone in Britain wears a top hat and sips tea. Literally 44% of Londoners are from Black, Asian or ethnic minority groups. One third of Londoners were not born in Britain. The ‘evil colonialist scum’ you could be laughing about being ‘a little hot’ could be the baby of a mother from a country previously colonised by Britain that worked her arse off providing for her family dying because the little apartment they managed to buy is insulated to retain heat and they can’t afford an AC unit. Yes, colonialism is terrible and we should try to wipe any traces of that despicable ideology off the face of the earth. But labelling 60 million people, of whom probably less than 4 million ever played a single part in evils of the past, as evil and worthy of suffering is genuinely a terrible and despicable thing to say.
3) the original post is 100% correct about this being soft climate change denialism. I am a young person living in the UK. Ten years ago, hell five years ago, it was normal to have winters that reached -5 degrees Celsius and summers that peaked at 25 degrees. The randomness of British weather has also always been legendary - jokes about having four seasons in one day are a classic - but both the temperature and the extremity of our weather has dramatically changed in a short space of time. We barely dip below five degrees anymore. You can look at our now regular forty degree summer heatwaves. Me and the people around me barely flinch when it hails at 2pm in May and 30 degree sun comes out thirty minutes later, or when it’s barely above ten degrees one week with snow and storms and it’s gloves weather but then a heatwave the next. Climate change is super evident in Britain and as mentioned in point 1, our infrastructure and work culture is not built for Mediterranean summers. We cannot keep up and it is not a good situation and saying that we’re being pussies is fucking insensitive.
So yeah. Basically, laughing at a whole country of diverse people who on the whole have nothing to do with anything you take grievance with who are currently living through extreme conditions that their homes and lives and country are just not built for because they ‘can’t take a little heat, grow up’, is not okay. Gain a bit of goddamn empathy.
like idk i think at this point im just gonna have to start blocking anyone who's into taylor swift. sorry but if you can't drop her even after she invites ICE agents to her fucking wedding i just don't really think i want you near me. why are you throwing all of your supposed values away for a mid at best pop singer?
*guy who runs a ICE concentration camp, not an ICE agent. my bad. point still stands.

He is the executive chair of Amentum, a company that provides engineering and technology to the USA’s army and nuclear programs. They operate the most test and training ranges of any contractor if their site is to be believed.
It appears they run the East Montana concentration camp, the largest in the USA. While much of the abuse, including sexual and physical abuse, occurred under the camp’s previous contractor, Acquisition Logistics, the ACLU has confirmed Amentum was WORKING AS SUBCONTRACTORS at the East Montana camp during this time. Amentum's current role as sole contractor from March onwards proves no less deadly, with 2 overdoses with the intent to commit suicide from inhumane conditions. Representative Escobar confirmed nothing has changed since Amentum’s takeover. Lawyers representing prisoners report being unable to reach their clients.
The following conditions are BY DESIGN, as "Guards tell people detained at Camp East Montana who complain about conditions that if they do not like the conditions, they should self-deport." Civil Detention Centers are not supposed to be punitive. This is only a civil detention center on paper. It is a concentration camp.
The ACLU lists: I already linked this but I'm doing it again bc if you read one source, it should be this one.
Medical neglect, including for people with pregnancies, diabetes, cancer, and HIV.
Severe beatings. One man was beaten to death for requesting his asthma medication.
solitary confinement
unclean water
Tuberculosis and Measles outbreaks
Limited to no sunlight
no or limited hygiene products
rotten food, not enough food, no special diets for medical conditions
SEXUAL ASSAULT
No ventilation in a DESERT leading to lung damage
Not enough toilets, overflow often, whole tent smells of urine and feces
No privacy to use said toilet
Threats and beatings for those that refuse to sign deportation papers, sometimes to places they are NOT FROM
No activities, punished for attempting to make art from recycled items like cracker boxes, can only practice own religion at guards' discretion
no dental care. This is likely universal across US concentration camps. Note Emmanuel Damas, the Haitian immigrant that died from a dental infection due to lack of care
Unable to receive legal representation if not already represented
LOCATED ON FORMER JAPANESE DETENTION CAMP BECAUSE TIME IS A FUCKING CIRCLE
Taylor Swift's guest is directly responsible for these. This is the LARGEST CONCENTRATION CAMP IN THE US, made to hold 5000 people. He's not just any ICE contractor he is the biggest and baddest. At least this will get people talking about just HOW bad this camp is.
Note this camp is in the Chihuahua Desert: This heat wave? Try it in a windowless fucking 108 by 36 ft tent with 72 other people with no soap.
reading a negative review of something you love written by a person who very clearly didn’t understand it at all
reading a positive review of something you love written by a person who very clearly didn’t understand it at all
Reading a negative review of something you hate by someone who very clearly didn't understand it at all and hates it for the wrong reasons
the thing that annoys me the most about the supergirl hate is that when superman came out last year my (instagram) feed was flooded with hopecore and people hyping it up, "kindness is punkrock" and everyone was seemingly so inspired to do good, they all loved that superman defeated a rich person and stood up for the oppressed. there was still hate for the movie but the positivity drowned it out
now that its supergirl, all i've seen is hate with very little defense which is insane because how could people not like sex traffickers being beat up? why would we not want women to do good things? there just isnt enough hype for this movie, and i genuinely think that the people who have seen it and still hate it, unless they have a VERY good reason, are simply sexist, because most of them don't have a reason outside of "Shes annoying"
We have lost the meaning of queerbait
Just because what you wanted didn't happen, doesn't mean it's queerbaiting. It is now being used an excuse when the ship you want didn't get together. Queerbaiting has to do with marketing.
Queerbait: A cookbook that you learned about from ads with pictures of people eating tasty looking soups and the author's social media posts about how soup lovers are going to love it, proves to have no soup recipes.
Not queerbait: A cookbook has no soup recipes. You assumed there would be some based on vibes and wishful thinking. No soups were ever advertised or promised.
Also not queerbait: A cookbook that was advertised as containing soup recipes has soup recipes but not for the types of soups you like.
