I went to Ft. Worth, Texas this weekend to visit my best friend Kylie. She got a technological sales job after college and moved there in February for training. She lives in downtown Fort Worth. I got there really late on Thursday night due to weather delays and then stayed until Monday night due to weather delays as well. We tried to pack in as much as we could during my visit, and see as much as we could. On Friday, she was at work a majority of the day, and I just spent time doing homework and miscellaneous odds and ends I needed to get done for the weekend.
On Friday night, we went out with her roommate and some of her other friends that she has met in her apartment complex over the last couple months. A group of us got together at her apartment and celebrated her birthday. We drank and had food at their house and took a cab to the bars on West 7th Street in Ft. Worth. I really liked W. 7th Street because it was a really large outdoor stretch of stores, restaurants, bars, a movie theatre, salons, and a few other places. It was a nice place to walk around, especially when the weather is nice and get a little taste for the culture. I liked going out there, because there was a fun stretch of really lively bars, and all of them had huge outdoor areas. I really enjoyed the outdoor aspect of Texas, and how almost all of their restaurants and bars have a large outdoor seating and standing option. The bars were a lot of fun, and I was glad I was able to experience the bar culture of Ft. Worth while I was visiting.

The following morning we woke up and went to a Mexican food place in downtown Ft. Worth. We walked there because Kylie lives so close to the central downtown area. It was a really nice day, so we sat outside for lunch. After lunch, we walked around downtown a little bit more and went to Sundance Square which is an area where people go downtown to listen to live concerts, eat, converse, and in particular that day there was a fountain running which tons of kids were playing in, trying to cool off from the hot weather. Once we got home, we got our swimsuits on and headed to her apartment pool. Her apartment complex is really big, but they have one big communal pool where everyone is invited to come swim. We met most of her friends who came over the night before at the pool to lay out, listen to music, swim, and drink poolside. It was a completely different environment than I am used to and was really relaxed. It was nice because all of the people at the pool were in their twenties and all swimming, talking, having a cocktail, and having a good time. We stayed there a majority of the day, then went home and drove a few minutes away to In-N-Out, so I could try my first meal from there. I ordered their classic cheeseburger and fries and thought it was pretty good. The remainder of the night we just hung out at her place and watched movies.
Once Sunday morning rolled around, I could not believe that my trip was almost coming to an end. It had gone by so fast! I could not believe it! We woke up and got ready for the day, and drove to a Mexican restaurant in Ft. Worth called Papasito’s Cantina. I wanted to get in as much “Tex Mex” as I could. I love Mexican food and could not believe how good all the food I had tried so far in Texas was. This restaurant was definitely my favorite of the weekend and I cannot wait to go back there next time I visit. After lunch, we drove to the Ft. Worth Stock Yard and spent some time there. The Stockyards are a western town that has a rodeo, livestock, little stores, restaurants, and cobblestone roads. We got a beer and walked around the Stock Yard to check it out and see all it had to offer. The Stockyards are also home to Billy Bob’s Texas, which is the world's largest Honky Tonk. After the Ft. Worth Stockyards, we went to Dallas and shopped, explored the downtown area, and ended our day by going to an outdoor bar and grabbing a beer. I really enjoyed Dallas as well. It is a lot bigger than what I had seen of the Ft. Worth area so far, but I thought it was a really cool city with lots of fun things to do: cool restaurants, bars, shopping, and clean downtown area.

On my final day (Monday), Kylie dropped me off with family because she had to work. I have family in Dallas so I spent the beginning of the day with them and went to lunch, Mexican again, and then they dropped me off at the airport. All in all it was a great weekend, and I cannot wait to visit again. The people were so nice, the weather was really great while I was there, I loved seeing my best friend, and the Mexican food was on point. I would highly recommend visiting to anyone and will definitely be going back again soon!
