The rain is still falling outside, a faint but steady sound hearing behind the window. Johnny and Mavis got completely soaked earlier when they were dancing quietly in the summer shower for hours. Now, they feel the cold creeping into their limbs. Both of them have to suffer the consequences of their long, quiet dance and the chilled ice creams they ate.
Mavis nestles on the big, comfortable sofa in the bedroom. The yellow light of the lamp glows from the side, making it feel cozy, while the world outside is wet from the downpour.
Johnny pulls his knees up to his chest as he grabs the whole tissue box from the coffee table. Then, he takes one from it and presses it to his nose. Before he blows his nose with a loud honk, Mavis does it without any hesitation. Her nose is running like a leaky water faucet. The floor beside the sofa looks like a flood of used tissues.
Their favorite movie already plays brightly on the screen, showing people talking and laughing in a made-up world. But they're having trouble paying attention to the dialogue. Every few minutes, a loud, explosive ACHOO interrupts their cozy movie night.
The large, soft knitted blanket feels warm, like a shield against the cold that still clings to them.
As she reaches for a handful, Johnny does the same. Their fingers sometimes brush against each other. Apparently, they're enjoying crunchy potato chips from a plate, trying not to make too much noise as they chew slowly.
Mavis leans her head against the back of the sofa, letting out a small, tired sigh. âOh god, my teeth are dancing in a rhythm,â she mumbles, her voice is thick and trembling.
Johnny gives a weak, tired smile. âMine too,â he says, his voice is more like a low mumble. âFeels like some grumpy little monster is living in my head.â
They both start to cough, but despite their thick knitted blanket, two mugs of hot coffee help them to warm their bodies.
Even though they're feeling sick, they are happy, they are together, sharing a fluffy blanket. Watching a movie, sharing snacks, and being together so closely feels like the most comforting thing in the world for them. They just holding their mugs, get ready for the next big sneeze, but completely safe and warm in their cozy little world.

The sun is shining as always and not a single sign it will rain in this early evening. Mavis stands near the front door of the hotel Transylvania when Johnny interrupts her flood of thoughts with two ice-creams in his hands.
âLost in thoughts? I brought some ice-cream to cool you down.â Johnny says, handing her one ice-cream, already licking his own.
Mavis looks at him closely, her eyes locks on his as if he might snatch hers at any second.
Just as she takes a small bite of it, the summer rain begins to fall . Itâs the very first rain of this summer and it feels really warm, gentleâlike the feeling between them.
âNo way! itâs raining!â she exhales, stepping into the open yard, her face already turns up to the sky. Her ice-cream melts in her hand, yet she keeps twirling, arms wide and open like a kid seeing the rain for the first time.
Johnny just stares at her, scooping up the last bite of his ice-cream.
âCome on Johnny! Donât just stand there. The rain is perfect. Letâs not waste it," she grabs his hand and pulls him towards her, into the first summer shower. Their hands still feel warm as they hold each otherâs fingers.
A minute later, it turns into a downpour and they just let the rain soak their clothes. âYou can feel the difference, canât you?â she asks, grinning slightly.
âThis is the best kind of rain! and you know what? Iâve been waiting for this since the summer beganâ she murmurs, wrapping her hands around his neck. Her smile is clear as the summer rain washes the earth itself.
The Transylvania forest sounds fade into a soft, sweet, earthy smell as they're dancing in the rain for hours.
On a lazy afternoon, a playful idea comes to Johnnyâs mind while Mavis is half-dozing on the sofa. Turns out, thereâs something unpredictable about her.

The first frost has passed, and Mavis and Johnny are sharing a cozy, intimate moment in the grand lobby balcony of the Hotel Transylvania, watching the snow fall together.
âFrom now on, let's watch every snowflake fall, just like now.â

Being a writer is wild because one minute youâre convinced youâre a genius and the next youâre googling âsynonyms for walkâ like youâve never used language before.

Just a short what-if scene I imagined (sort of slow burn) between Mel and Frank during a (mostly) quiet break in the supply closet.
The Faintest Promise
The supply closet door clicked shut behind Mel as she slipped inside, holding a clipboard in one hand. She was rushed because there were lots of patients to look after. Unfortunately, it was a casual Monday evening.
âDon't tell me you came here to rest.â Frankâs voice came from beside her.
âGodâDr. Frank, of course not.â Mel shouted. Her hair bun loosed as she jumped suddenly to the side.
He was leaning against the metal shelf with stethoscope around his neck, sipping from a coffee cup like he had just got a day off.
âYou know this is the perfect place to hide from nurses who want me to speak more.â
Mel rolled her eyes, setting the clipboard down. âWell, congrats! Youâve claimed the kingdom of nursing staff.â
He grinned with all his confidence and scruffy charm. âWelcome to my realm, Nurse King.â
lately, iâve been thinking about fanfic writers how wild are. Like⊠we take characters we love, put them in new situations, and somehow it becomes a cozy little universe that lives rent-free in our heads.
