The sun set about an hour ago now, and the last few staff members were finishing up around the diner. Either washing dishes, making sure the stoves are cool or wiping mysterious stick from the booth tables.
Larry was one of them, picking up the last few glasses left on the table to drop them near the kitchen window before clocking out.
âBye, Assholes. See you all next month.â larry turned to look over his shoulder to watch Gary walk out of the door, paper bag of food in hand, âheh.. bye Smith, see ya never.â he smirked to himself, hearing Garyâs huff.Â
he wiped his free hand against his apron and balanced the tray of empty glasses in the other, smile growing as he moved across the diner front, already feeling enthralled with the thought of the sleep heâs gonna get tonight. More than two hours, finally! no more essays, no more babysittinâ âtil midnight, just face fallinâ into his bed and sleeping.
He glanced towards the clock as he set the trap down on the lip of the kitchen window, chest bubbling uncomfortably with excitement. Johnny was supposed to be here any minute, which meant rest was so close.
He promised to watch movies with him tonight, and heâll keep that promise. Even if he passes out mid movie and maybe misses the whole plot.
He grinned widely, saying his goodbyes to his coworkers, and heading straight for the doors. He didnât want to be here a second longer than needed.
The cool breeze felt great after being in the hot diner for four hours, the radio from inside still faintly heard and his hair settling into messy curls as he stands on the sidewalk, waiting [im]patiently for his knight in shining armour.
He took in a deep breath, taking the chance to stretch his body and, for the first time in a good while, relax.
[] i don't love how this drawing come out but lets pretend it looks better, thanks guys. also. enter.. my chubby peanut hc.. also pretend i'm good at rp asks..
The sound of gravel filled the empty parking lot as Johnnyâs car rolled up in front of the diner, radio blaring hard enough to shake the old vehicle slightly. It was a car Johnny had saw at the junk-yard long ago; fixed it up and got it running. He was a bit freakishly obsessed with it, constantly polishing it and only letting a few people into it. It was his baby. It wasnât very ugly at all, the red wrap on the car shimmering when it was sunny, a few scratches on it from accidentally bumping and perhaps some road rage. Johnny wasnât really one to control his anger.
As he parked, he sent a glare towards Gary who had been walking down the gravel path probably to catch the bus home closest to the diner. He never really liked the boy. Especially when Gary made an attempt to join his clique (although the other greasers bullied him mercilessly).
Johnny turned sideways, pushing the passenger door open with his foot instead of bothering to get up, walk around the car, and open it himself. He was that kind of person. Larry didnât love him any less because of it.
âYer knight has arrived.â Johnny displayed before immediately wincing at how cringy his own words sounded. He covered his embarrassment by turning to the radio, fiddling with the stations as Larry got into the car. He settled on some old cliche love-song, turning down the volume enough for it to be some ambience.
Johnny rested his elbow on the center console, turning his attention back to his boyfriend. He rarely admitted it (due to the fact it made him feel stupid and clingy), but he always missed the boy despite his shifts only being a few hours long each night. It was stupid and he knew it was, but having Larryâs attention and presence made him feel really nice.
âHey, Lar. How was da shift? Bet ya made lots of tips from dat place. Itâd be nice seeinâ a pretty face walkinâ into dat dump.â Johnnyâs hand rested idly on the stick shift as he spoke, shrugging and gesturing around like a bad actor in a movie. That was just Johnny though.
He smiled at Peanut, hand smoothing his curls back to kiss his cheek. It had been strange seeing Larry without his hair slicked, but Johnny got used to it over time especially hearing about all the times Larry had complained about the heat and how it messed with his curls.
âJusâ hope ya had a good time atleast.â
