1 cup Washing Soda (not Baking Soda. Different things.)

1 cup Borax (not Boric Acid. Also a different thing.)

½ cup - 1 cup grated bar soap (you can use literally anything. I often use Ivory because it’s easy to get and I find it works well, a lot of people like Fels-Naptha, which is an actual laundry bar. Some people use Dr. Bronner’s. Really does not fucking matter.) After grating your soap, combine all ingredients. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. Use maybe a ¼ cup per load.

Also you can MAKE your own washing soda very VERY cheaply.

Step one: acquire $5 bag of baking soda from Costco.

Step two: lay that motherfucking baking soda out on a baking tray.

Step three: bake the baking soda on a tray in an oven at 400° for 1 hour (to make the moisture evaporate, leaving washing soda)

Step four: revel in how easy and cheap it is to make your own washing soda, and maybe take a moment to be angry that the industry upcharges the fuck out of something that is so easy to make.

I see some of y'all complaining about static and/or wanting nice smelling laundry. Go to a craft store, find 100% wool yarn balls. If it doesn’t come in a ball, ask an employee to make it into a tight ball for you. Wash in the washing machine to make it felted. Remove from washer, add a few drops of essential oil to the ball, allow to seep in. Dry with clothing. Doesn’t need to be rewashed ever, and if it stops smelling, add few more drops of essential oil. Bam, reusable dryer sheets.

Harry Potter also taught an entire generation of kids that the news media can’t always be trusted to tell the truth, that the government can often be corrupt or incompetent, that the legal system isn’t always right, that the people in power don’t always have your best interests at heart. That bad things sometimes happen to good people, that your heroes aren’t always as perfect as you think they are, that even those with the best intentions can be wrong, that everyone can make mistakes and that often in order to make things right it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice.

…and I think in a way that’s every bit as important as the more positive messages.

Revamp up and running!

Now that we're back, feel free to explore!  We've modified important documents, so please review the rules and the like and check out that "Newsletter" link up top to find out more about the update and such.

We've also changed the set-up for the boards.  A lot of these boards existed but people weren't looking for them, so I brought them forward to be utilized.  As such, a lot of threads were moved.  If yours is somewhere you don't feel it belongs, let me know!

Timeline is still a priority for me.  I will be adding the summaries.  Just time consuming, so please bear with me.

If you notice any bugs, please report them in the "Reparo!" board, now found in the "Members Commons" board.

We also now have a board for Welcomes and Leaves of Absences, so please post there whenever you need to do so.

We will be entering Maintenance Mode at 11:30 p.m. PST (roughly four hours from now minus a few minutes).  If you would please take a look at our claims before then and make sure yours are correct, that would be wonderful.  If you're wanting to post during that time, I'd suggest copying your threads to Word or similar and replying in the document then posting when we're back up. Also, you may notice information and the like vanishing from the site.  Don't worry!  We've updated either the information held within or the format and will be replacing it during Maintenance Mode. We are looking at a Saturday release for the revamped site reveal.  I have made a lot of changes to documents which will be replaced Saturday morning, and this includes a rework of character sheets into categories by "muggle," "creature," "witch/wizard," and "mutant."  We are linking to the necessary reads in these threads so that everything is right there.

My two major to-do list items remaining are to read through the "Extra Information" board and consolidate where possible as well as check for clarity and to add the summary blurbs to the timeline.  I'm anticipating the timeline to expand beyond the time of the revamp release, but I will get more recent threads done and work my way backward.

Is there anything that you remember finding confusing or unclear when you joined or even simply read a bit of info?  We want to ensure we are as transparent with our provided information and lore as possible as we will be hitting the advertising circuit hard with this reveal.

Site Maintenance

Today, I’ve taken a break from posting to do some site maintenance on the front end.  So far, I’ve updated claims, deactivated any inactive accounts (Sub or I can reactivate them, so please don’t create new ones if you decide to take a character back up!), moved finished and abandoned threads to the Pensieve, and updated the Who’s Whom.  Please feel free to double check anything related to your claims.

For at least the next thirty minutes, the site is down for back end maintenance.  Sub has been working to finish some changes for the site and I believe still has a few more things she wants to do.  She’ll update us all on any changes she made.

On another note, we have officially had our most active month in recorded history which began in 2012, and are over 800 posts right now with 11 days remaining.  I’m super excited to see all the plots wrapping up and new ones starting.  The fervor and enthusiasm is quite refreshing to see and I love it! You guys are super awesome!
