Arnold Böcklin (1827-1901) “Vestal” (1874) Symbolism
Vestals were priestesses of Vesta, the Roman goddess of the hearth, home, and family. They cultivated the sacred fire of Vesta that was not allowed to go out. Vestals were freed of the usual social obligations to marry and bear children, and took a vow of chastity in order to devote themselves to the study and correct observance of state rituals that were off-limits to the male colleges of priests.

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
January 27 marks the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.
In 2005, the United Nations General Assembly designated this day as International Holocaust Remembrance Day (IHRD), an annual day of commemoration to honor the victims of the Nazi era.
From 1940 to 1945, more than 1.1 million men, women and children were killed in the Auschwitz concentration camp. 90% of them were Jews. All were innocent. Today, we remember
Never Again.
Everyday should be a Remembrance to those who perished from the Nazi holocaust.
You cannot honestly oppose nazism unless you openly and visibly oppose anti-semitism.
some of my favourite women’s march signs so far!
Damn, y'all.
Mierda…that’s so spot on.
One of the best signs yet.
i think I finally cracked today from reading so much libfem rhetoric.. Can I sue for damages
i hope all u ugly white feminists realize that the founders of the women’s march are a latina woman, a black woman, and a palestinian muslim woman. they didn’t create this march for all of you to talk about your pussies and spew cissexism. :^)

we’re only in the preliminary stages of a new era of clumsy clickbait analyses of Russian culture and politics and I’m already tired
“To Kaufman, the drama is suggestive of what 19th century Russian writers, particularly Fyodor Dostoyevsky, recognized as the Russian Soul. This soul is one that lends itself to imperialist authoritarianism.“
it’s so convenient how every phenomenon involving foreign peoples can always be explained by arguing they are defective by their very nature
