A note to all creatives:

Right now, you have to be a team player. You cannot complain about AI being used to fuck over your industry and then turn around and use it on somebody else’s industry.

No AI book covers. No making funny little videos using deepfakes to make an actor say stuff they never did. No AI translation of your book. No AI audiobooks. No AI generated moodboards or fancasts or any of that shit. No feeding someone else’s unfinished work into Chat GPT “because you just want to know how it ends*” (what the fuck is wrong with you?). No playing around with AI generated 3D assets you can’t ascertain the origin of. None of it. And stop using AI filters on your selfies or ESPECIALLY using AI on somebody else’s photo or artwork.

We are at a crossroad and at a time of historically shitty conditions for working artists across ALL creative fields, and we gotta stick together. And you know what? Not only is standing up for other artists against exploitation and theft the morally correct thing to do, it’s also the professionally smartest thing to do, too. Because the corporations will fuck you over too, and then they do it’s your peers that will hold you up. And we have a long memory.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking “your peers” are only the people in your own industry. Writers can’t succeed without artists, editors, translators, etc making their books a reality. Illustrators depend on writers and editors for work. Video creators co-exist with voice actors and animators and people who do 3D rendering etc. If you piss off everyone else but the ones who do the exact same job you do, congratulations! You’ve just sunk your career.

Always remember: the artists who succeed in this career path, the ones who get hired or are sought after for commissions or collaboration, they aren’t the super talented “fuck you I got mine” types. They’re the one who show up to do the work and are easy to get along with.

And they especially are not scabs.

Supergirl Fake Season 7

Lena is at the her new office, well old if you consider it was hers before the crisis. She has barely made a dent in the mountains of paperwork to reclaim Luthor Corp and its subsidiaries. Surprisingly she was in Lillian’s will but having Lex declared legally dead is a pain. Going through his illegal side ventures and cleaning up what she can will take a while but at least she won’t be doing it alone.

She’s interrupted by her phone going off, Recognizing the name she picks up right away

Lena: Hey

Sam: Kara is FREAKING Supergirl.

Lena: Well hello to you too Sam. 

(Lena hears a very excited Ruby in the background)

Ruby: Mom ask her! ASK HER! If you’re Kryptonian and Kara’s Kryptonian does that mean we’re related!?! Did she always have powers?

I think Kara revealing her identity to the world is a very literal interpretation of the idea of her being her whole authentic self that doesn’t take in to account a lot of the ramifications this would have. This is easy to ignore because it was a series finale and  Supergirl has a habit of dropping storylines with no ripple effects in later episodes or seasons. But I digress.

A while go I read a post which some one said Kara had 3 personalities; Kara Zor’el, Kara Danvers and Supergirl. (If I find it I will link it) When you look back at certain scenes it kinda shows. 

Supergirl as a public figure is not really allowed to be vulnerable. That can be an issue when you are a figure of hope. What happens when you are sad, when you are traumatized. Kara’s trouble with balance and focus sounded like depression.That scene at the end, Kara was able to take off her glass and cry, to be vulnerable with Lena without having to put up a barrier.  Compare this to season 3 when she was mourning the lost of Mon’el. Verbalizing one’s emotions is hard enough but then you add to the fact that Lena only knew half of what happened. Lena’s interpretation of Kara pulling away was through this filter of misinformation so she couldn’t be there for her the way they both needed or wanted. 

When Lena found out about Kara being Supergirl, she felt lied to. Every time they talked about their childhoods it was always through a”Kara Danvers” filter that omitted circumstances and feelings. 

Sidenote: why did they never invite Lena to the alien bar...

Kara who canonly says Kryptonians learn calculus in Kindergarten has to play dumb with Lena whenever she excitedly tells her about a project. While I don’t expect Kara to be an expert I would assume she remembers basics which would be pretty advance for the average human. 

One of the most annoying scenes to me was the scene in 5x07 when Lena approaches one of the consoles in the Fortress of Solitude asking if it is what she thinks it is. Kara knows what it is but she does the hesitant “I think so” instead of just confirming. Maybe we could say “well we call it this on Krypton but it’s similar. The confident Supergirl and the smart Kara Zor’el is being filter unnecessarily through Kara Danvers. Kara Danvers who had to pretend she was not the smartest person in the advanced placement high school math class. 

The pre-crisis teenage Danvers sisters’ relationship showed there was tension and somewhat petty competitiveness between Alex and Kara. We saw Alex struggle in high school and college and we see Kara make sure self smaller in ways because of it. 

Her whole self could have come in waves and the first step would be to stop hiding, stop making herself small and in a sense, stop code switching.

Fake Season 7 of Supergirl

Kara is spotted buying potstickers at a place downtown. Someone tweets that Kara Danvers/Supergirl is a regular. Now randomly fans will place orders and have it delivered to her apartment whenever she has what is considered a tough fight or Catco has an earnings call. 

While it seems sweet, Lena is concerned and Alex wants to check the food for poison. Kelly wants to write a paper on the dehumanization of celebrities and unhealthy boundaries. Nia is just thankful Dreamer wears a mask and there was a strict social media ban at the wedding so no videos of her using her powers got out.

Lena: I think you should come stay with me for a while

Kara: I don’t think that’s necessary

Lena: Kara there are photographers staked out side of your apartment building. Strangers are showing up at your door at all times of the night. And while they may be harmless right now it’s far too easy to find out where Supergirl lives and you are way too nice. 

(Lena continues before Kara can object)

When was the last time you slept through the night?

When was the last time you actually used your door to leave your apartment?

Kara: Over a month ago

Lena: Come stay with me. My building has 24 hour security. It’s a lot quieter. Underground garage and a balcony so you can come and go without being followed. Please Kara.

(Kara biting her lip with the crinkle starting to show)

Lena: I can have potsticker delivery on standby.

Kara: Okay

Game night :imagine constant notifications sounds:

Alex: Kara what is with all the messages? Is it something Catco related, do you need to go? 

Kara: No, its fine. All these people from high school keep messaging me through Twitter and Instagram. 

Alex: Like who? You had one friend who was not me

(Kara tosses Alex her phone)

Alex: Charles Philips, the guy who used to throw paper balls at you in math?

Kara: hmmm

Alex: Caitlin Lynch, the girl who made you cry everyday for the first month you were in school?

Kara: Yep. I used to day dream about melting her face off. 

Lena: Where does she live now?

Did they really bring Mon’el back to save Kara from someone she already fought and defeated and then say he not coming back anymore. She didn’t expect you to come back this time.

Was this the first time Lena comforted Kara when she cried? I like scenes where Kara is truly vulnerable with her. 

I love scenes with just the 2 of them

It’s easy to end the show with her revealing her identity when you don’t have to show the consequences of this.
