This here model is a design by student Elliot Mackie from Australia. He designed this seating concept using SolidThinking Evolve & Inspire.

Right up my alley! Seriously, I am working on a similar concept but much greater scale. Nonetheless I applaud her for taking into account what most have forget: not everyone falls into the “average person” category.

Marta Rudyk engineered the Transgenerational Kitchen. The separate layers of stovetop, sink, cabinets and counter tops can be adjusted up, down and side to side with a remote control, encouraging ease of interaction with the young, the old, the disabled and people of all sizes.

Wait, what? Walk on water? This post, by the way, isn’t related to architecture, per se but it caught my attention upon reading this:

“The reason why water striders, water bugs, oarsman, diving bell spiders, and the like can walk on water or stay dry under it is that they have tiny hairs that prevent water actually coming into contact with their surface.”

Scientists mimicked naturally-occurring nanostructures from the above and created hydrophobic surfaces that “...could prove invaluable for everything from pipes to boats and submarines.”
