what, what the hell is thiiiiiiiis
(cruithne is currently stalled on the basis of having a job, so here we haven't had a progress report in awhile)
Working on Cruithne pages. Apologising after you purposely bump someone doesn't mean shit, Marshall!
One hour sketch-and-ink done in Manga Studio. So many anatomy errors! But I'm getting more used to the program.
And, below: babby avengers too young to drink
Skrull and Kree designs for Cruithne. Because if you're already playing loose and fast with a fandom, why not make the aliens actually look interesting?
Random sketches.
1: Kids height. Levi isn't going to have orange hair, IDK what I was smoking.
2: Marshall! Figured out her parents faces and then ran from there.
3: Room sketch. Not sure who her roomie is going to be as a teenager yet so their section is conspicuously empty.
A fifteen year old Marshal and a comic exercise where I drew the panels and then tried to come up with dialogue. Both of these are from the same universe, about ~4 years after Cruithne.
Figuring out Thom Adler's colourscheme in Cruithne.
(working on like ten projects at once is how I get over the existential dread of having to draw the same hallway for like, ten pages.)
Cruithne test. Still don't know how abstract I want the Majesdanians to look, or how stylized I want the art.
Haha, I found my old writing journal from 2008-2010. So embarrassing.
The not-too-embarrassing story summaries from it:
Ka Ki Lang: Earthborn!Malayasian!Shepard-focused Mass Effect fanfic, in which he refused to give up his gang affiliation post joining the military, and had to deal with the consequences of that after being appointed as a Spectre. Spanned ME1-ME2.
A Thing in the fic was how living until 150+ years meant that the perceived age of maturity was changing - moreso on Earth, where the tech was born, and you were still treated as a 'kid' until you were 40-50. So Joker, who was born and raised ship-side, viewed himself as an adult from basically the time he began pilot-training on-up, because extended childhood isn't useful in an environment where one person's fuckup can space the entire ship. Meanwhile, Shepard grew up on Earth, where fourty is the new twenty, and how could anyone really expect you to sit and settle down until you're at least fifty? Those are your ~wild years~! You're only a kid once! ect ect.
The romantic aspect was entirely Shepard having a sexuality crisis and banging his way through space while simultaneously bemoaning the fact that Joker didn't like him. (because shep was the WOOOOOORST)
Zodiac was the other one, in which girls sister dies, girl leaves reservation and discovers that she was killed by aliens who use Earth as a game reserve. Girl proceeds to go on a vigilante alien-murdering spree, and is hunted down over the course of twelve months by the alien princess, who accidentally falls in love with her instead. By the end, everyone was miserable (and also dead.)
Write the awkward murderous gay tragedies that you want to read, I guess.
Working on a 30 page story I can stick into my portfolio and be done with. Sort of a superhero story (but also sort of not.)
Darius, the POV character for the first chapter.
World-building fluff under the cut.
Revised map of the archipelago. Those are the major islands, labelled with the regions names, with their direct translations.
Tylene refer to them by those names in their POV chapters, but you'll get to see their actual conlag names in the Cre ones.
Chapter one of this fic is almost done at 10k: one more scene and three more illustrations and I can post! How exciting.
Timerose is currently on pause! (Did I mention it here? I feel like I mentioned it here, but fuck checking.)
The long and short of it is that I want to post up completed chapters as I go, because I feel like the story runs more smoothly if read in full increments, and looking for a job is taking up a lot more time than I initially presumed. (Hire me! :()
It's still being worked on, but it won't be updated again until the rest of the pages for CH2 are finished, and then until CH3 is completed. IDK when that'll be, though! Probably not for a minute.
I strained my wrist and it is refusing to heal as fast as I want it to. :( So updates to this blog will be slow for awhile.
This is an illustration from a story that's in progress. I am strangely proud of how neat the scroll looks.
The kids and their familiars! From the top: Mo & Joy, Nina & Roach, Tammy & Pooch, and Yui.
