you know what’s going to be just like mwah chefs kiss in season 2 and I just know I just KNOW Jacob is going to take full advantage of it because it will be amazing storytelling on screen is the fact that while Ilya is spiraling and his brain is lying to him (as the brain does) his progression is steadily upwards in terms of environment. He is surrounded by supportive people who absolutely adore him. He is constantly in a safe space and is making a home with the centaurs and also with Yuna and David. So while he is not out and he doesn’t see all of these things as they truly are, he is always interacting positively with other queer people and garnering friendships. His safe space and his community grows. On the other hand, Shane is out (for the most part) and his progression is downward and negative. He goes from feeling mostly supported by the people he cares about, to being completely rejected by the people he’s given his life to. His community is NOT a safe space and continues to decline throughout the season until it hits rock bottom. He barely interacts with other queer people, and by the end is isolated and alienated by his community (yes obviously he still has his core but that’s all- it doesn’t grow, it shrinks). I just can’t wait to see the only three men i trust in the world tear this the fuck up.

"I wanted to honour Shane's queerness, because it's different from being bisexual, it's different from being gay in New York, it's different from being gay in a very liberal LA family. He’s this hyper disciplined kind of robotic little hockey boy, who comes to terms with him being very gay and very not bi. I think that experience was really important to me."
