NALEO to honor U.S. Senate Gang of Eight with the Edward R. Roybal Award

U.S. Senators Bennet, Durbin, Flake, Graham, McCain, Menendez, Rubio and Schumer will be honored at the NALEO Edward R. Roybal Legacy Gala in February 2014

The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) announced today that the U.S. Senate 'Gang of 8' will be presented with the prestigious Edward R. Roybal Award for Outstanding Public Service at the organization's annual NALEO Edward R. Roybal Legacy Gala in Washington, D.C., February 2014. The award will recognize the efforts of U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet, Richard Durbin, Jeff Flake, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Robert Menendez, Marco Rubio and Charles Schumer to move immigration reform forward by developing and securing passage of bipartisan legislation that would fix our nation's broken immigration system in June of this year. This year will mark the first time in the award's history that it will be presented to more than one individual in a single year, as well as to individuals outside the Latino community.
