Headcanon #1

Everyone seems to think that Clint will do the thing, and Natasha is like, “Wait No!” Or Nat and Steve doing the thing and Bucky being like, “Wait No!” But here’s my version: Clint and Nat: Let’s go do the thing! Laura Barton: WAIT NO DON’T GO DO THE THING! Clint and Nat: *do the thing* Clint and Nat: *come crawling back to Laura* Laura Barton: *hands on hips, tapping her foot, all that Mom stuff* What the hell did I say?

Okay I know I just reblogged this, but I’m not done with it.

Has anyone else thought about how much more compelling this simple change would have been thematically? We lose nothing of Clint’s character development, because a sister can be just as important and share the same concerns as a wife. But instead of an awkwardly underdeveloped romantic relationship, suddenly there’s a sibling relationship to parallel the Maximoffs. But Clint has chosen to protect his family and keep them out of it, while Pietro and Wanda have chosen to fight side by side.  Give Clint a conversation with Pietro about family, and protecting their family. Make them disapprove of each other’s methods. Pietro’s sacrifice to save Clint is instantly so much more heartbreaking. Give us Clint fighting to bring Pietro’s body back, because he knows he needs to bring him home to Wanda.

Literally so much improvement with less than five minutes of the actual film changed

Okay, so I’ve been having an ongoing discussion about this post all day, and I think it’s time I commented on the post itself. There’s the whole discussion right here, but it boils down to “I don’t like Laura because she’s in the way of my ship, and this is the only way I can write her out of the narrative without actively attacking her.”

Also, the sibling relationship wouldn’t have paralleled the twins at all. The Maximoffs’ relationship is more connected to the fact that they had only each other growing up. If you want to go with that angle, write in Barney, just don’t erase Laura’s actual role. Not to mention the fact that anything would have been “awkwardly underdeveloped” because Laura had a whopping ten minutes of screentime! It just depends on if you want it to be romantic or familial.

omg why are you all liking the barton fam headcanon. do you all love loud families? in this case i have another one. when laura asks to one of the kids to call the other for lunch/dinner, the kid would sigh and then yell ‘come here it’s reaaaady’. breakfast is the only silent moment because they’re all grumpy in the morning to be honest. they do the same thing even when they don’t want to do something ( ‘i am going to do that later’, 'why do you even need my help??’, 'x mom said you have to do that’ ). clint is not a kid, but he follows this line anyway.

Laura reaches up to touch Clint’s face, fingers falling through air and nothingness inherent of a hologram. She knows this practice, but the knowledge of SHIELD tech does little to keep her heart from twisting into pieces.

“You pick a really shitty time to propose,” Laura decides, staring at his bloodied and battered features. Clint laughs, and it looks like it hurts.

“I know. But I figure while I have a few minutes for a secret phone call while these thugs figure out how to better incapacitate me, I owed you.”
