want, 2017-18

i was so excited to find the march issue of textile fibre forum magazine in the mailbox a few days ago. i love the layout of my artist profile.
super excited about the march issue of textile fibre forum magazine…can’t wait to see my artist profile in print.
i only made three posts last month. i did a lot of stories, but only committed one to an actual post. i just haven’t felt like sharing in that way. because unlike stories, i use posts as a way to share more…in words. and that takes more thought and effort for me. 😊 it’s been a dark, difficult month, even with all the warm days we had. but march is here (my bday month!!) and spring is, hopefully, right around the corner. to celebrate the coming of sunshine and brightness, i am sharing this colorful picture of a purse i was commissioned to paint. i love it. but seeing my friend’s face when i gave it to her was the real treat. happy spring, y'all! ♡♡♡

after a long break in the spring and slowly getting back to it over the last several months, this piece is done (not mounted, but done). i love it more than i expected to, especially since i was struggling to get back to it. i thought maybe something was wrong with it. but i just needed time off. now i’m ready to get so busy again, y'all!
the super bright and fun design commission is finished and i am so happy with it…can i keep it??? probably not since i know they really want their pantry door back!!
painted section of door: 6.75’ tall x 2’ wide.
at first, i was so reluctant to take this on…as i do not think of myself as a painter. and that had me haulted for a bit. then i realized that it was a design project…not a “painting”…and my brain block went away and i got to work. i’m thankful to my sweet patrons and friends for their subtle (no, not really) way of not taking no for an answer and having faith in me. and having so much of my work in their home.
i can’t believe i’m saying this but…if anyone is interested in this type of work, hit me up!! in the meantime, i’m excited to get back to fiber art ♡
my copy of textile fibre forum magazine arrived today. it’s pretty cool to be in an issue that features the late magdalena abakanowicz.

help me clear some space in my home by adding some art to yours.
i want to thank everyone who has bought art from me over the years. it feeds and validates my soul in a way i cannot express. i would love to clear out a lot of the work i have around the studio and the house, as it isn’t being loved as much as it should be here and i need more room for new art that has yet to be created.
this blog has a lot of older work but i hope someone will still enjoy it.
