An infuriating take that I saw online was that it is “completely unrealistic” that Anora believed that Ivan actually loved her and cared for her.
I feel like that take shows that you completely missed the entire point of the movie.
Anora is a sex worker, but she is a young girl. Her tough girl exterior is obviously a façade that keeps her protected from the rest of the world. She is young, naïve, impressionable, a romantic at heart, and just want somebody to love her, and she thought she found that.
She didn’t want to believe that the rest of the world was completely right about her and that she would never find love and that everyone only wants her for her body.
THAT is why the ending of the movie is so powerful. THAT is why the movie as WHOLE is so powerful.
Idk man I just don’t like that take lol
