I had fun making my game in the bindery. It took a lot of time but now i can bring my own board game to Denmark.
Dance mom testing
I testet the Dance mom game every day for a week. I found out that insted of having all cards on your hand, it works better if the dance moves are in a different pile. I also added the fact that you can buy new moves but at the risk of getting the same level or worse.
I spend most my time taking notes and balancing the four different characters in the game. I gave them each a special characteristic. One of the moms is handing out a lot of drinks and did not receive any money. I thought it would be enough to give her the ability to hand out drinks instead of money, but she lost the game because she ran out of money and therefor health. I modified each character after every game - adding and rewriting dance moves and actions cards.
Game development
When i first startet brainstorming for my game i thought about my favorite game mechanisms. I like it when you have to predict other peoples moves in a strategic way. I like it when a game have storytelling and brings you into a world that adds a level of fun. I also enjoy when it is everyones game and you can fight your way up buy tricking other players.
I had three ideas:
1. Develop on my horse race game - make it work better.
2. Dance battle game:
The idea was to battle other dancers and having different levels of dance moves. You could get another dancer drunk and she would be out of the battle. You would have to predict other dancers dance moves. The idea came when i thought about different situations where you would be able to battle - which themes would suite. And then i remembered the american television show called dance moms. The show is mostly about the drama between the moms that will do anything for their sweet dancing daughters. I thought of the level and point system. How do you win and how do you lose the game. If you reach a high level you will win. I made cards, both action and dance moves. The first time i testet it, it didnt go too well. The dance moves and action cards were all mixed and on your hand. But after a battle people lacked dance moves. So if another player started a dance battle, he could actually win pretty easy cause no one els would have any dance moves. 3. Mail man: A board game where every player has to deliver a package for a specific spot. Only the player knows where to. And every player has a secret character description. Maybe you are transporting a bomb - maybe you are undercover and has to find the bomber. When the bomber has placed the bomb - the undercover has to get it and disarm it before it is too late. But if the undercover mail man delivers his package first - he has won the game.
I also thought about upgrading your vehicle and different speeds.
I decided to develop the dance mom idea since the story and feel appealed more to me.
Public and playgrounds Week 7
Playground water park like a castle. I always wished for a place like this when i was younger. You can play games at the castle in team where one team has to conquer the castle. It is in water so it should be safe is someone falls down. There will be lifeguards hanging around. 7.2 a game at AUT: Easy fun game. You have to smuggle/sneak from the bottom floor of a building to the top floor. Some people are “guards” and some people are refugees. The guards have to make sure that as little refugess as possible make it to the top floor within 1 hour. You dont know how people look - so you have to walk around the building asking people for ID. It is played during a regular day, so the security might have to ask people who are not in the game. They have to make a strategy to guard most exits and entres. If you get asked for id you have to tell them you are a refugee and they will take you to the ground floor. But they can leave the ground floor if someone - could be anyone - says the secret password to them. Could be donut. So if a refugee on the ground floor can make a random person say donut they are free. If a guard is around they will have to close their eyes and count to 10. The game has a time limit. If you make it to the top floor, you are safe and maybe there will be served cake.
Logic/Bluffing week 6
6.2: My horse race game has these mechanisms in it. You have to create your move and reveal it move by move like the game Colt express:
If you switch the two papers on the lane - you might not be able to jump if the other player changes your path into a higher fence. I really enjoy this mechanism and i want to use it in the final game i am producing.
Party and Parlour games week 5
Game:
If a player pointet at the tomato sauce one player might write these three words and then if the judge wrote burger as well that player would get 1 point. This is also a social game, cause you have to guess how other people think and what they associate with different objects. No difficult knowledge is required.
Game and play week 2 - cards:
Task 2.1: Different symbols for playing cards: Flower shapes - More interesting and detailed. Figure shapes - easier and more readable. The symbols also add a different feel to the art and design of the game and how you want the player to fell overall as they play.

The card that tells you what cake you need to make.
This is the board
The different ingrediencies have different looks and feel. You are not allowed to look in your hand while you play, so you have to feel which ingrediencies you put in to your bowl.
Tiles Blog 3
I made a game called steeplechase horse race:
The picture above shows the actions that you might have on your hand. Each player takes 6 cards up on their hand. Then you plan 3 moves. It changes for each round who will start. Everyone does there first move. The second and third move cant be changed and must be done after everyone have done the first move. You therefor have to try and predict what the other players might do. - Back Kick: If a player is behind you, you push that person 1 tile back. - jump: You jump over a fence - Switch: You can change the landscapes by switching to tiles around. They have to be next to your horse and next to eachother. Sprint: If you are not stopped by a fence, water or mud, you can move 2 tiles forward. - Run: Move 1 forward - arrow to the left and right means you can move to one of the sides. If you cant move to one side cause you would land outside of the game, the move is not valid and you will stay where you are.
Here the two horses have planned 3 moves. They only reveal one move at the time.
Here the horses are at the starting line.
The white horse choose to jump for the first move and gets over the small fence. The pink horse cant sprint through water and stays where it is.
The the white horse plays the switch card and switches out the wall with the small fence. After that, the pink horse uses a “Jump + tip fence”, which means that if there had been a fence in front of the pink horse, it would have been tipped over. However, since its a wall it cannot be tipped. The horse who cross the finish line first wins.
Game and Play 1
This is a sketch from my planning of the game. There is a lot of elements involve and the game might have been better as a simpler version. The choice in this game, is when you have the option to choose if you would like to gamble on whether or not you hit a certain spot on the platform.
