It was a nervous tick for Kane to glimpse at his clock ever so often. At least ten times a day. No, not his watch. His Soulmate Clock. The one that counted down the years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds… until you met your soulmate. Thus the name. It was so weird knowing the exact time in which one of the biggest impacts of your life would happen. It’s like, it was controlled. And that made him incredibly nervous.
He was standing next to an ice rink. These things had been gotten fuller and fuller each day as Christmas crept closer. So many people. And he sweared he heard somebody crying into somebody chest screaming ‘It’s you. It’s really you!’
Kane glanced at his soulmate clock on his wrist again. There were only a few seconds left on it. What would he do? What would he say? Was he ready for this? To meet whomever was his soulmate? There was no doubt in his mind that he was not ready, at all. But till he would meet his event head on with a smile on his face. One more glimpse at the clock. It was the sixteenth time he’d done it in the last hour. The clock showed it’s remaining time: 00:00:17
Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no. Nerves. Going haywire. Breathing got heavy. He felt like he was being suffocated!
That is, until somebody in the ice rink gracefully took a fall.
Kane opened the small doors inside and awkwardly slid towards the person. It was a girl. A very… cute and pretty girl. He extended his hand to help her up. And as his Soulmate timer hit zero and blinked on his wrist, he smiled.
“Are you alright, miss?”
