When having a really bad day
1. Why this day has been so bad 2. Why itâs your right to be upset 3. How to make yourself feel better 4. How to avoid that this happens again
âWitches think in circles and spirals whenever possible, rather than straight lines. For instance, we see time as both circular and a spiral, rather than as linear. The Wheel of the Year is a circle because it keeps turning, coming back to the same point each year, and yet it's also a spiral, because we are not the same people we were last year, and the world is not the same place. Autumn is always autumn, yet no two autumns are the same.â
From How to Become a Witch, by Amber K. Not true for all of us, but true for me.
Every part of the wheel will touch the road, but the same part of the same wheel will never touch the same part of the road twice!
Iâve seen it trickling around online of tarot circles, and it sounds like a lovely idea. Even having one person to discuss their experiences with the tarot would be a gamechanger.

The Wellness Wheel Tarot Spread
**Based on a concept discussed in one of my counseling courses, where each slice of the wheel represents a section of your life and how well you feel like youâre doing in that area**
The idea behind this spread is to pull one card for each area of wellness to give you an idea of how you can improve that area of wellness. Under each section of wellness Iâve included just a few topics that might relate to that section. You can ask about a specific topic or just the overall area of wellness for each card.
1. Spiritual Wellness
-Connection to nature
-Belief in the divine
-Connection to a community
-Sense of self or sense of purpose
-Meaning in life
2. Financial Wellness
-Abundance and income
-Stability
-Paid vs. Unpaid work
-Productivity and work ethic
3. Physical Wellness
-Sleep
-Diet and exercise
-Medical appointments
-Medication/ vitamins
4. Emotional Wellness
-Awareness and acceptance of emotions
-Mindfulness
-Ability to Identify and express emotions
-Emotional stability/ regulation
-Use of positive coping strategies
5. Social Wellness
-Healthy and positive interactions
-Communication
-Sense of community
-Hobbies
-Social connections to family, friends, pets etc.
6. Intellectual Wellness
-Stimulating activities
-Challenges and engagement
-Productivity
-Continued learning
7. Environmental Wellness and Safety
-Do you feel safe in your immediate environment?
8. Overall Wellness
-What do you need to know to raise your wellness overall?
Practitioners of Color:
Here are practitioners of color that specialize in culturally specific practices. Theyâll be willing to help and guide you if you have any questions regarding your practice, and if you are interested in embarking on a culturally specific path.Â
(I got this list from THIS post, where I asked practitioners if theyâd be willing to help others with a culturally specific craft. If youâre interested in helping and teaching, and potentially guiding people, let me know! Itâs for POC specifically)!Â

BETTER SHIT TO PUT IN YOUR GRIMOIRES THAN THE BASIC SHIT EVERYONE SAYS:
Maps! Maps! MAPS! If you're a death witch, get one for the cemeteries you visit and mark gravestones/areas you've practiced in! Garden witches! Map out your gardens! Green witches! Map where you find specific herbs in your area! Lunar witches! Mark the best spots to go look at the sky! Make a key! Take notes!
Recipes for COMPONENTS! Write down how to make the mixtures you use in spells often- A special salt mixed with herbs and put under the moon, a mixture of oils for protection, the herb mixes sachets you keep making to add to sachets, whatever!
For green witches- press samples of stuff and glue them in! Go to an arboretum and ask for permission to take leaves to press, they'll usually let you take some- add them in with your notes about trees
Cool ways to make spells! I make spells in envelopes and on empty spools, what are some ways you do?
The local plants in your area and what they do. You're not going to be likely to find chrysanthemums to forage in Missouri, but you will find creeping charlie and prairie plants. What can you do with a thistle?
When you celebrate a sabbat, write down what you did and include samples! Ribbons from your Beltane altar, a pressed sample of your lemmas harvest, a scrap of your Yule decorations. Maybe do a spell and tape the remnants into your grimoire in a plastic baggie
Learn how to make an envelope out of paper just by folding it, how to string seeds, how to dry plants, how to macrame rocks and hang them from your window. Find those little witchy skills and write them down.
How to incorporate your hobby into your magic. Sigiling origami paper, weaving knot magick into your crochet, making blessed bookmarks, etc
Substitutes! Rosemary, rose and clear quartz are good for most things, but there are more substitutes to be used that are more powerful. Roanoke bells are good substitutes for bluebells, apparently.
Correspondences of odd things. Turns out different kinds of cats have different correspondences, huh.
Superstitions and such from where you're from.
For kitchen witches: easy to alter recipes. An egg noodle recipe that takes herbs really well, a simple bread recipe that can be dressed up for spells or rituals, how to make a good pie crust that you can sprinkle nutmeg in or whatever you desire.
Or: What foods go good with what herbs. You'll make a better apple pie (and get the benefits of apples, nutmeg, and cinnamon together!) If you know how your herbs taste together with your cooking. (Most kitchen witches know this stuff, but for a green witch who likes to make teas or a sea witch that likes to make soup, etc, this is important)
goodness, I love making spreads so much that this is my second today! enjoy :)
What's with all the repeat numbers in spreads?? I'm sensing a pattern here. This isn't the first time something like this has happened.
The one time I want to be dissociated off my ass and im locked in my head :/
things to release on a full moon
fear of changeÂ
searching externally for answers & not searching within
negative energyÂ
the belief that youâre not good enough
comparing yourself to others
clinging onto things
letting go of the need for approval from others
fear of criticism & judgement
old beliefs that no longer serve you
Mawmaw's Sweeten Um Up Working
Itâs not a spell because Mawmaw was a good Southern Baptist woman and she didnât do spells. She sometimes did workings. Just things to help things along.
Mawmaw is what we in the South call our grandmother. Â My Mawmaw was white but she was born in a migrant worker camp in Georgia and never had a birth certificate. She was one of 13 children, though not all survived. Now and then, I come across old memories and bits of things I remember from her. Superstitions, folklore traditions. Sometimes I find bits of other things to put them together.
When I was about 8 or so, I came downstairs to have breakfast and opened the sugar bowl to find a folded piece of paper in it. So before scooping out the sugar, I asked what a peice of paper was doing in it.
âHe needs sweeteninâ upâ Mawmaw said.
I poked at the paper and could see a name written on it.
This was one of Mawmawâs workings. A bit like a honey jar but in a much simpler form. No candles or anything fancy. Just a slip of paper stuck in the sugar bowl until Mawmaw felt youâd been sweetened up enough.
For a more modern version and because I donât keep a sugar bowl, Iâll take a sugar packet from a restaurant and write the name on that then put it somewhere safe until the workinâ is done.
(If anyone else has this tradition, or similar, in their family, Iâd love to hear about it.)
i loooove this idea. the simplicity of it really speaks to me. i like a little less the imposition of will on another person, but the idea behind this for manifestation is awesome :D
đS T I R MAGICK
Whether youâre making a potion in a glass, coffee in a mug or a concoction in your cauldron, at some point youâll have to stir.
The direction you stir in (clockwise or counter clockwise) can have powerful effects on your potions and drinks, lending some extra energy and imbuing your intent even further.
DEOSIL (Clockwise)
Means âtoward the sunâ. The right side, with positive associations in some cultures. Used to summon energy.
WIDDERSHINS (counter Clockwise)
Means âagainst the wayâ. The left side, often with unlucky associations in some cultures. Used to banish energy.
Can also be used in:
⨠bath magick ⨠tea magick ⨠circling an object, place or your altar
đŚđ§Aphroditifulđ§đŚ
this is something i use all the time, and not just with cooking. iâm a nanny, and when i rub a kidâs back to help them sleep, i rub clockwise to promote relaxation.
honestly i go clockwise for pretty much anything, changing the wording to be positive, instead of using widdershins and using anti- vocab
some thoughts
i struggle to balance the desire to DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, and the freedom of doing spell work that is left unrecorded.Â
i.e. manifesting/banishing things by writing them down and burning it (something i really enjoy doing). i have no lasting memory of what iâve worked to manifest or banish, but in the moment, it felt right
my bullet journal is where i record and scrapbook every day life, and i LOVE IT. it is my pride and joy, it keeps me engaging in a creative endeavor that feels low stakes and gives me so much room and forgiveness for mistakes.
i feel a bit more stress to keep spiritual journals and recordings as up to date as my bullet journal, and this is something i donât maintain as often as a result. i find myself sometimes questioning just how much documentation is important or necessary - then i get mad fomo feels.
A Witch Morning:
Many witches have their own personal morning routine to get ready for the day. This is my personal morning routine and tips for those who are yet to have, but want one.
1. Get up early, before the sun rises. Begin by stretching your sleepy limbs, followed by 5 to 10 minutes of meditation.
â(Tip: If youâre bad at getting up early, set an alarm earlier each week until you reach your goal.)
2. Make your bed and tidy up your room. This gives a sense of organization and clarity. Opening your windows invites the cool morning air into your home.
â(Tip: Do chores the night before. Tomorrow you will be grateful! You can clean your room the night or day before, so youâll only have to make your bed in the morning.)
3. Eat a good breakfast. My favorite is greek yogurt with berries, homemade granola, and honey drizzled over the top.
4. Prepare some tea! Use a tea associated to your intention. I drink peppermint tea in the morning to clear my brain fog and give me the much-needed motivation for the day.
5. (Optional) Eat your breakfast and drink tea outside as the sun rises. Take time to practice mindfulness with the tastes, textures, and aromas of your meal. Feel the gentle warmth of the rising sun on your skin, smell the fresh morning air, and listen to the birds sing.
6. (Optional. If yoga isnât your thing, exercise⌠Or not. Your choice.) Set up your yoga mat either in your personal yoga space, or outside. Light incense and place crystals associated with your intention around your mat. Personalize your yoga routine with correspondences of each pose. I begin with the sun salutation to welcome the rising sun. Yoga increases your vibration and further clears your mind for the day ahead.
7. Clean yourself up. EVEN IF YOUâRE NOT GOING ANYWHERE, DO IT. Take a shower, wash your face, get into some clean clothes, and anything else that you do to get ready such as makeup and color correspondences. You can listen to your favorite music or sing while doing this.
â(Tip: Set out some clothes and take a shower the night before if you have to.)
8. Now that youâre cleansed and have your daily intention set, you can continue with any morning spells and divination that you may do!
â¨đŽâ°âđżâđżââ°đŽâ¨
May the day bring you much joy and prosperity!

There are pencils that turn into plants when youâre done using them.Â
The âSprout Pencilâ is the first sustainable pencil in the world that can be planted after use.
âWe have chosen the seeds for our pencils with great care, and they germinate quickly: i.e. within 1-3 weeks, depending on the seed variety. Most plants can be grown both indoors and outdoors.âÂ
Itâs made of natural materials: the body is cedar wood, and the âleadâ is a mixture of clay and graphite.
Sprout pencils are available in 22 varieties, including sunflower, mint, lavender, sage, forget-me-not, cherry tomato, sweet pea, cilantro, and wild strawberry.
What to do
âWhen the Sprout Pencil has become too short to write with, it is ready to be planted. Follow the simple instructions below and see your Sprout pencil sprout.â
They are also available in the colored pencil variety, which makes me oh-so-happy!Â

Iâm almost positive thereâs a spell use for these. Someone more clever will probably think of it.
Art witches could use these herbs omggg. Drawing protective sigils with the basil or rosemary one omggggggggggggggg.Â
OMG! Best thing Iâve seen in forever. Iâm definitely getting some of these!!
I feel like this is the most Jewish thing Iâve ever seen, tbh. Replace what youâve taken (the wood) with something beautiful and useful (the plant).
Hereâs the website to buy them, but the company also sells them on amazon https://sproutworld.com/buy-sprout-pencil-on-amazon /sprout-pencil-on-amazon-france/
