The sun was setting, and there will be a full moon tonight. You chose this night to go through with your plan to take out the Lemoyne Raiders for good. They have been terrorizing the town for far too long and hurting too many innocent lives.
You could already feel the transformation beginning, you took a deep breath and went through your plans again before nightfall finally settled.
The Raiders were going to rob a train on its way to Saint-Denis, you planned to hide in the trees until they arrived, making sure to leave a couple of them alive so they’ll lead you back to their camp.
When the time finally came, you walked out of your cabin. But then you heard something. It sounded like preaching and cheering, listening in closer, it quickly turned sour. The cheering turned into yelling and gunfire.
After changing into your wolf form you ran in that direction and saw a burning cross, getting closer you saw the notorious hooded figures going after a woman. You heard of these figures from the local townsfolk; they were a horrible group. There were a lot of them, but the woman was fighting back vigorously. She wasn’t afraid of how outnumbered she was, until when her gun ran out of bullets. She pulled out her knife and began lunging at her next attacker, stabbing him in the chest.
You charged towards two of the hooded figures, digging your claws in their necks. The other members turned and looked at you in shock and horror. They all stopped in their tracks and watched as you ripped their brethren apart. You run towards the others and kill them effortlessly until there’s one left.
Looking over at the woman, you saw a man in black robes coming up behind her. He hits her on her ribcage and pushes her to the ground. She drops her knife during the assault and grunts when she lands on the dirt, her hand holding onto her left side.
The man in the black robes charges at you with his weapon held above his head, you let go of the bodies and jump to the man. You knock him down when you land and hover over him. You remove his hood and snarl in his face.
“Please…” The man starts, he’s trembling in fear. “Don’t hurt me…”
You roar at him and attack.
When you finish with him, you look over at the woman. She’s frightened and clumsily backs away from you, clutching her side the whole time. You see her knife on the ground, you walk over to it and gently place it in front of her, she grabs it and points it at you. You expected her to do it, so you back away from her and stare at her for a moment. A train rumbles in the distance, and you remember your previous plans. You huff and run to the train, leaving her behind.
Sadie looked around, and she couldn’t believe what just happened. What were you? Why didn’t you attack her? Everyone around her was mauled to death by you.
What the hell were you?
She braces herself against a tree and tries to get up. She had to get back to camp before anything else happened.
The next morning, she sat by the water with the log against her back. She couldn’t stop thinking about the night before. Especially your eyes, they were red. Who has red eyes?
“Would you like a cup of coffee?"
Sadie looked up and saw Abigail holding two mugs. She smiled and accepted the cup.
"You’ve been quieter than usual, something wrong?” Abigail asked. Sadie looked at Abigail, debating whether she should tell her or not.
“Something weird happened last night.” Sadie began explaining everything to Abigail. From the confrontation with those men to you handing her the knife even if it meant attacking you with it. At the end of Sadie’s story, all Abigail could do was look at her confused with her mouth agape. But then she remembered something the other girls were talking about.
“That fits with what Karen was talkin’ about with Tilly and Mary-Beth yesterday,” Abigail said.
“What?”
"She was talkin’ about this wolf-man that protects Lemoyne, he lives in a cabin somewhere in the middle of the woods,” Abigail takes a sip of her coffee and continues, “Karen said that he’s the last of his kind and has those glowin’ red eyes you were talkin’ about. But, I just thought she was tryin’ to scare the girls.”
Sadie looked down, she wondered if she should find you.
You woke up this morning, and your entire body ached. You were on the floor in your living room, covered in blood from the night before. Your plan to destroy the Lemoyne Raiders was successful, but the only event on your mind was that woman. You wondered if she got home safe, you should check it out.
After cleaning yourself up, you went to the area you found the woman last night. The bodies were still around. The putrid smell filled the air around you, and you knew that you had to get rid of them before anyone discovered it.
You gathered the bodies into one pile and gathered the materials to set them on fire. That’s when you heard hooves.
You hid behind a tree and waited to see who was around. The hooves stopped, you glanced to see who was on the horse and saw it was the woman from last night.
Slowly, you came out of hiding, and she saw you immediately, pulling a gun on you. “I didn’t mean to scare you,“ You put your hands up, "I’m not going to-”
“Who are you?"
”(Y/N), You?“
"What are you doing here?” She walked a couple of steps towards you.
“I think you know why I’m here.” You nodded towards the pile of bodies.
“It’s you, from last night.” She lowered the gun a little bit, “But you look…different…I guess I should have expected that”
You smiled and snorted at her response.
“Listen, I’m glad you’re here. I wanted to-” she sighed and put her gun in her holster, “I wanted to thank you, for saving me. I don’t know what you are, but that doesn’t change what you did.”
You raised your eyebrows at her, no one has ever sought you out to thank you before. You weren’t sure what to say
“Um…” You lowered your hands. “I’m relieved you’re okay.”
She smiled at you shyly and looked over at the bodies.
“I’m Sadie. Do you need any help?”
You nodded and handed her a bottle and some cloth. After lighting the first cloth, you looked over at Sadie who was waiting for you to throw it.
“Why don’t you throw the first one?” You handed your bottle to her and she accepted it.
“Thanks, (Y/N)”
She threw the bottle, watching it burn the people who attacked her.
