I don't have as much history as others here, having only joined Ashes some time in July 2025, but it was some of the most fun I've had with PonyTown themed stuff in a long time.
Truth be told, I've yet to actually read Fallout: Equestria despite being a brony since 2011--wasn't into Fallout much at the time, so it never caught my eye. However, having grown more fond of the Fallout franchise over the years, and with my return to the brony fandom in March 2025, PonyTown came into my life somehow, and eventually so did AshesTown. Mixing MLP with Fallout in an interactive way was genuinely just…awesome.
For some context, in PonyTown, I usually play Twilight for my group's RPs, and I have been told I am one of the best Twilight's they and various strangers have seen, and so I took that to heart and continued playing her to the best of my ability, and had a great time. Come July, and having started playing AshesTown, it only made sense for me to continue playing her.
Of course, it wouldn't be canon to Fallout: Equestria, but where's the fun in adhering to one canon, yeah? So, enters Remnant: My take on a Fallout-style Twilight Sparkle. She became a character I grew very fond of, and I had a great time developing her lore while playing AshesTown with my friend. Remnant is something that crawled out of the vats in Maripony. She may be Twilight, she may not be, but she is both a remnant of the old world and all that remains of her, so her purity is irrelevant in a world where harmony and peace are rendered obsolete. (Take note of her cutie mark, because that's scar tissue. She carries centuries of self loathing and hatred towards herself and her complacency in the end of the world.)
I played Remnant and Starstruck--my takes on Twilight and Starlight--while my friend played Luster Dawn and Flurry Heart.
The images you see paired with this message are my characters and probably one of the most impactful scenes in our story. Flurry Heart, having lost everything in the war, became a ruthless and pragmatic ruler for what little of her ponies she had left, and she ruled with an iron hoof, albeit begrudgingly. Almost two centuries of stoicism and harsh rule changes a pony, and thus she is cold and calculating--a far cry from who she once was prior to the end of everything. Having met Twilight for the first time in almost two hundred years, naturally she blames her for a lot of what transpired…and she is very unhappy to see her.
However, after weeks (or months--didn't have time to fully flesh it out) of continuing her campaign, fate would have it that the two would meet again, and while reading "The Little Pegasus Who Could" to Flurry like she did when she was a filly, Twilight broke down. And so did Flurry Heart.
One of the most touching moments in our story, I feel, and I would be heartbroken if it were lost to time, so here I am talking about it.
Thanks for reading. Stay hydrated. ✌️
