updates on the interlochen application?

(i applied this year to interdisciplinary arts, got in, so will be a sophomore next year there, and i’m looking for people that i know are going there next year so i can connect prior to going!)

I am sadly/happily on the waiting pool, so I’ll give a new update when I get my final results. Are you going to camp? If so, I will be there for sure.

I had my first Jury for acting and MT.

So I just had my first musical theater and acting jury.

Safe to say that was the worst thing ever. For my acting jury, the girl who is supposed to choreograph it never sent the video to me, so I couldn't really learn it.

Saying that every time we're supposed to work at, I was gone or she was gone (I was working multiple shows), and then they changed it the night before. So that went pretty bad. Then I had my musical theater jury. This is my first time singing in front of people, just by myself for a grade, so I went up there. It was so bad. My voice was unsupportive. My voice was very obviously shaking from how nervous I was, and I messed up the words for the last part of it. After I did that, I went back up to my scene. I had like multiple people were like "oh my goodness, you did so great", which I hate when people do that. I hate when people lie to your face. But then I heard a group of people behind me like defending me and being like " oh well, she was just very nervous." Then one of the senior girls in my class tapped my shoulder and said "you did so good." I am just started sobbing. So safe to say that was the worst experience of my life. I don't even know what to do or like how to talk to people after this because like anytime I talk to my friends who are in the class and be like oh that was not good. They are like oh that was so good. I know it wasn't, but then again known for being super sensitive so I know they don't feel comfortable to give me criticism like that.

I recently applied to Interlochen Arts Academy for Theatre Design and Production, and l've been searching for recent experiences from people who have gone, but I haven't been able to find any. For context, I will need financial aid, I would be coming from the South, and also one of the top 20 art schools. If anyone goes there or could speak on it, that would be awesome.

Does anyone actually know what to do when you’re like mad at your director? Like what do you mean you put me on a project, took me off because I asked for time to work on the project, told me I couldn’t work on it when I thought a bomb exploded so I wasn’t really paying attention, then got mad at me for finishing? Then you said it’s because you promised the other director you wouldn’t let me do it and that you need to send a president for people to not ask for “too much”. Like you’re a grown man. This is insane. It literally took me less than 15 minutes to do, and we have a system where you can ask for rooms. Yes, it is my fault. I did not look on the calendar when I chose my date, and I couldn’t get it, but just because of that, like, why are you just canceling the whole thing? Then you make me swear in front of the other director that I won’t ever work on something without your permission (which is fine, makes sense, but I did have your permission because you told me to do it. When was I supposed to do it?). Then the other director says that I need to “stay gold,” like this is the fucking outsider? And the whole reason you make me promise to never do work without you again, even though I literally told you the second this conversation started that I turned on the light board and was currently working on it, was because I asked if I could use the house lights we’ve been using, and you said you fucking hated them and they’re ugly and never use them again. Well, I’m sorry I’m not the one who fucking programmed them. Anyways, please give me tips before I lose my mind.

People are SLEEPING on the most interesting Leia & Padme comparisons because there's so much focus on Leia being "like Anakin" because she gets annoyed sometimes and Padme being this perfect moral beacon of truth and justice despite all of her very canonical lies and cover-ups and obstructing of justice.

If Luke is the Jedi that Anakin should've been, then Leia is the LEADER that Padme should've been.

Padme is a hypocrite, proclaiming that all people deserve basic decency and the right to safety, but at the same time allowing Anakin to get away with a mass murder with no consequences by covering it up.

Leia doesn't even let Han get away with being a little bit of an asshole, there's no way she'd let him get away with mass murder. She holds everyone around her to a higher standard, believing in the best of them but also but refusing to accept excuses for cowardice and selfishness.

Padme talks so much about wanting the war to end, but then allows one of the opposition's biggest generals go free just to get Anakin back because she cares about him, causing the war to continue to go on for even longer.

Leia lets Luke sacrifice himself because she knows it's possibly the only way they might have a victory and beat the Empire, even though she knows what he is to her and loves him. She knows what has to be done and respects the choice Luke is making and would never condemn their efforts just to keep him with her.

Padme's story parallels Anakin's, she devolves as the narrative goes on, until she's barely a shell of the person she used to be. That strength and moral clarity she showed as a Queen is entirely gone, leaving only a scared woman pleading with a murderer to come back to her.

Leia's story parallels Luke's, she gains more and more strength and clarity as the narrative moves forward. The bossy young woman we first met has become a confident rebel leader who knows she doesn't have to harden her heart to be strong.

So I made my homophobic, conservative republic. Grandparents read the first Hunger Games book. (Plan is to get them to read the whole series.) I think it’s funny how different their interpretations are as they read the book.

So my grandmother read it first. She could see that like Peeta actually genuinely liked Katniss. She was a bit hesitant towards Haymitch (which both of my grandparents call the drunk), but eventually slowly came around to the idea of him. She could tell how their story was going to end. She figured it out by the middle and trusted basically all the characters.

Now my grandfather still hasn’t finished the book, but he is at the part where Rue and Katniss just started their ally ship. He distrusts everyone. He believes that Peeta is trying and will kill Katniss, and is trying to play her like a fool. He fully believes in Katniss’s distrust of everyone’s view of the world, and it is a kill or be eaten world. Like Rue, but he believes that the only few possibilities of how this book is going to end are Katniss and Rue killing off the careers and Rue killing Peeta because Katniss can’t, then it splits into three possibilities either Rue kills Katniss, and she wins, they both defy the capital and figure out a way out of the arena, or Katniss kills Rue (he thinks them killing each other is more out there, but if it came down to it, it’s more likely that Rue kills Katniss over the other way.) He thinks it’s more possible for Rue to kill Katniss because she made Katniss drop the Tracker jackets hive on people, but still thinks it unlikely. His opinion on Haymitch is pretty neutral, basically he’s just doing his job after seeing the horrors of whatever he went through.

I’m probably gonna update this on the reactions to the ending and the next books.

Honestly, I fucking hate that they are changing the theme for Rock ‘n’ roller coaster. This is also how I felt with the great movie ride leaving cause like honestly it doesn’t make sense and I don’t really think anyone likes it. I fucking hate it so much.
