Lara & Ivar | Hidden & Seen

The girl was a bright face, almost shining in her wholesome and elegant beauty. Ivar moved forward, jostling with the other males from various clans from the more northern territories. The southern territories looked suspiciously at them, as if determining who they could slaughter in the next battle. Peace would not come easy. These men and women did not have the mindset for it. War was what they knew, what they understood, and to change would require adapting to an entirely new context of being.
Ivar leaned on his cane, looking about the open space, watching as the young offerings were put forward. He had to admire their courage for they had undergone radical changes in the last few weeks. Yet, here they stood, prepared to negotiate.
Lara had long ago adapted to the role of a leader type like creature, always calculating the steps she would take. Perhaps that was where the elegance and determination came from. In other ways so much of her had been influenced by her parents and their roles in her society. Weeks of changes and alterations to their life style had only proven that the young woman knew what was at risk and what needed to be done. Of course she was not just going to oversee the process and not contribute, no. In the end, she herself had volunteered, seeing there could be no better and greater gesture than having a leaders daughter take up the role that change brought with the fall of the barrier. ❝ ---- All of these people have been selected, many of whom have volunteered. They all know what this stands for so you mustn’t worry about that. ❝
Her voice carried across the group and yet somehow it was Ivar in particular that she was talking to. He seemed like a leading type. ❝ ---- Do you have an idea of what type of companion you’re looking for? Surely there is an idea of the type person you’d like to see spending your life with you! ❝ The brunette had spoken yet glanced around the room, almost as if looking for that type of person before he’d even answered the question only just asked. There was much to discuss, much to organize and her mind was on fire for it.
