Etienne didnāt usually have a free afternoon, he was either with the girls, or working, and Casey, well, she was usually in court. So, when he noticed that their schedules lined up perfectly that day, he knew he had to make the most of it. Ā He also knows his wife rather well, and he knows sheās only going to give him a small window of time to treat her to lunch, especially since theyāre both just getting back to work after a very long honeymoon, Ā so heās prepared lunch reservations at a place down the street from her office. Ā The twins are with the nanny on a playdate for the hour, and Etienne plans on using up the entire time. So he gets dressed, black suit, purple shirt and heads out the door in the corvette for the DAs office.
The secretaries there know him, as does the security, so on arrival he just waltzes in, greets them and maybe lays on the charm because itās always good to keep these kinds of relationships in good standing, and then heās heading up on the lift for Caseyās office. What he sees when he steps off the lift, however, has him standing up a little bit straighter, walking into the room in that way he does that commands attention. Ā He waits, and watches as the man, and Casey talk in too close proximity if you ask him, before he steps forward to let his presence be know, clearing his throat. āEtienne Sloan,ā he finally introduces when the man stops, offering a hand to shake. Once the man steps away to go about his business, Etienne moves to take his spot, facing Casey, and he raises an eyebrow, stuffing his hands into his pockets. āHe was flirting with you,ā he says, teasingly but itās true, heās a little perturbed to be honest. āDoes he know youāre married?ā
The irony of how well Elias got on with the security and receptionists at the DAās office was not lost on Casey. In another world she would be in his life for a very different reason, facing him in court while her now husband was there against his will, but the world had other ideas. Someone had decided the straight laced lawyer should fall head over heels for a man that had broken more laws than kit Kats, and part of her didnāt care anymore. Their wedding and honeymoon had been the stuff of dreams and truthfully she was still walking on air a little from the experience, even if she was focused on throwing herself into her work to make up for the month sheād missed. Making a couple of notes on a form she handed it over to her assistant, glancing at her watch to check how long it would be before her husband turned up to take her too lunch. Her husband.
Seeing a colleague in the hallway gesturing to her through the glass wall of her office the brunette steps out, professional smile on her face, well aware he didnāt care that she was married. Philip Carson didnāt care what anyoneās relationship status was, he would flirt with a dishrag if no one else was available, so Casey just grinned through it. He was good at his job, so as long as he never actually touched, things would be okay. She knew Etienne was there before he even spoke, the air in the office changed, and she smirked to herself as he stepped forward. āIāll ask Kiley to send you over those reports, we should be getting the forensics back this afternoon and then we can move forward.ā She informed him with a polite smile before he moved away and the lawyer turned to her husband. āHe flirts with everyone, donāt let it get to you.ā Reaching forward she adjusted his collar with gentle hands, her engagement ring glinting in the light. āI donāt know, I didnāt mention it to him, but he must have noticed Iāve been gone for a month right? So the news probably got to him. Why do you have that face on?ā She frowned.Ā
