@laylafitzgeraldâ | paris, france
the beauty of paris at night isnât lost on sofi. for all of her rationality, she isnât without an eye for art (sheâd been a dancer, once, after all). being in the louvre, in the evening atmosphere of paris, almost makes it worth the amount of stressing sofi had gone through about taking her âtime offâ. ( is it time off if the president of the united states is there in a professional capacity as well?)
spotting layla, a smile alights on sofiâs features, relaxing from the guarded expression instilled in her as a child. layla was one of sofiâs nearest and dearest friends; despite, or perhaps because of, the differences between the two. they were both young, especially compared to the rest of the members, and sofi valued her company.Â
âhaving a good night, layla?â sofi asks as soon as sheâs within earshot. âi saw that you arrived with elise morgan. please - if sheâs starting anything tonight, do me a favor and stay out of it.â her tone, though tired, is not angry. she respects eliseâs ability to get shit done, despite her lack of self-preservation, and if she werenât constantly cleaning up after the blonde, sofi thinks she might really like her. âor,â she shrugs. âkeep her too preoccupied to start world war iii, i guess.â
Social functions were where Layla flourished, and tonight was no different. Sure, some of the Societyâs members were boring or just crazy corrupt, but she got to  go on a date with Elise and see some of the people she loved most in the world altogether. Who could possibly complain about that? Sofi was one of those very people and the second she saw her friend standing there smiling, Layla immediately made her way over to her side. Sure, they had their differences â Sofi was far more contained, stoic, bad ass â but Layla liked to believe that it balanced the two of them out. Itâd definitely been working so far.
âThe best night,â Layla replied happily. âLike, every single person I adore is here. Itâs like Disneyland but with a lot of rich capitalists and no rides.â Sofi would definitely appreciate that joke⊠and also appreciate the accurate analysis of the Society, probably. âWhoa, you want me to keep her preoccupied? What do you take me more, Sofi?â Layla said lightly, grinning from ear to ear. âSome kind of woman that would have sex out of wedlock?â She continued, probably pushing it a little far. If anyone knew about her escapades, it was Sofi, who unfortunately heard about them in detail. âI got you, donât worry. Speaking of sex, are you here with a date? Should I scare âem?â
