People do not understand that we share our stories most of the time because we would love to create a connection between each other, thanks to the stories we write. So, no interaction at all can make us feel lonelier, which is a great paradox in this age of the internet, which is faster and connects the world (saying this because I still remember the first 90s modems). This is my personal experience, as an expat fanwriter, who has been cyberbullied in the past, with no friends or support bubble in the country I live in.

"I didn't comment on a fic I liked because I don't think the author would care or remember my comment anyway". fanfic writer here, I still remember comments I got on my fics from seven years ago. I still think about them and they still make me smile. your kind comments are what motivates us and what helps us keep writing.

I personally know writers who take screenshot and print out comments they got from their readers.

TL;DR comments matter to us writers more than you think. if you like a fanfic, never be shy to let the author know ♡

But, since the people on the internet are mean and "no one owes you anything", like they say at work (I work in healthcare and my nursing mentors told me that patients do not owe me manners or respect), I keep my 100k word novel-length passion project in my hard drive because I am sick and tired of no genuine interaction about my passions so pieces of my heart, my stories, are guarded, and I suffer less.

No. I am so damn good at distinguishing fiction from reality. People need to go out, touch grass, and learn how to perform reading and comprehension of texts or movies, etc.

writing should be fun.

make oc playlists. spend hours on moodboards that have no purpose. write self-indulgent fluff that’s never going to be published. scribble three lines of poetry in the back of your history notebook. draw fanart of your own characters. write stupid dialogue that your publishers might hate. start new wips that you might never finish but write those three chapters that make you happy because if you don’t write them, who else will?

writing shouldn’t always be about “will publishers like this” or “i have to reach this word count” or “how do i get the most likes”.

The next Arthurian knight that refutes the misconception that every character in the Arthurian mythos had to be British or otherwise exclusively Western European.

Morien was a Knight of the Round Table whose life was narrated in the 13th century Arthurian poem “Moriaen,” written in the Middle Dutch. His father was the knight Aglovale, and his mother—a princess from a “Moorish” land. Just like the common imagery of Arthur’s court doesn’t have a strictly defined era or cultural affiliation (you’ll see hundreds of paintings of 6th century British knights wearing 17th century French armour), this image represents Morien as more of a legendary figure, combining regionally accurate elements in a bit of an anachronistic fashion. One of the first cultures to be referred to as Moors by the European Christians were the Maghrebine Berber people, giving some context to which region Morien's mother could be from. Amazigh-style weapons served as a basis for his weapons, while Tuareg dyeing techniques the design of his clothing. The description of his “Moorish” clothes and his armour as black as a raven reminds me of the beautiful indigo fabrics of the Tuareg people, which can appear to shine like raven feathers. His sword is barely visible, but it is based on the flyssa, an Amazigh traditional sword. He also holds an abaga, the Amazigh leather shield, which was actually so good at—well, being a shield—that it was adopted by many cultures of Europe because of its efficacy.

We thought of Marius summarizing the fall of Amadeo/Armand, as a saint who from heaven, plunges into the abyss, with black wings. I explained the poem because I don't think it is possible to translate it well into English with tools like Deepl translator.
