This movie stars Chuck Wagner, aka Automan. Will he defeat the bad guy and claim the boombox of kingship?
Can you believe they have this on Blu Ray?
How much do you want to bet half of the things in the poster aren’t even in the movie?
Merchants of Death...Exterminators of the 21st Century.Â
THE NEW BARBARIANS.
There’s no way this movie was as good as the poster art.
Putting together my terrible 80′s action movie to-watch list.
What do you get when you mix an MR-2 with a pickup truck? Probably something like the Volkswagon/Karmann Cheetah concept from 1970. It sadly didn’t make it to production, but it sure looked like a fun idea.Â
After the futuristic Alfa Romeo Carabo concept set the world on fire in 1968, everyone had to get in on the wedge car trend, including Toyota. Their entry was the EX-7 concept, a street version of the Toyota 7 racer. It reminds me a lot of the Lamborghini Countach concept.
The Isdera Imperator 108i was yet ANOTHER a wedge-style supercar from the 80s. Based on the Mercedes-Benz CW311 concept car from 1978, the Imperator featured gull wings, sported a rear view periscope, and inspired the car from the classic Spy Hunter arcade game.
Galactic Head by Jack Kirby. Amazing artwork.
The Lamborghini P132 was another early Diablo prototype. Something about this color blue definitely screams “The Future” to me. I can imagine this car cruising around Cybertron.
The Lamborghini P140. A concept that came about in the late 80′s, but was eventually passed over in favor of the Diablo.
Lisa Eilbacher, 80′s mega babe known for An Officer and a Gentleman, Beverly Hills Cop, and Leviathan. Big hair, big sweater, what’s not to like?
The Fiat X 1/9 was designed by Bertone legend Marcello Gandini, who also designed the Lamborghini Countach. Starting production in 1972, this car kicked off the mid-engine two seater craze that saw imitators such as the Pontiac Fiero and Toyota MR2.
I don’t think many of the Ralph McQuarrie designs ever looked as good as they did in his original paintings. The A-Wing definitely never looked as good in the movies, toys, or models as it did here.Â
