finding out Kaz (a writer for cl) called lazlo a shitty character because hes too happy makes me very sad but it also makes sense if you read joe murrays book

first of all okay whats wrong with characters who are happy?? People are like that irl. also hes a kid. i think its good to be an annoying optimist because that can cause problems and you can indirectly be mean doing that, you just need to write it the proper way

i dont find it hard to make lazlo a jerk ...theyve done that without needing to write episodes like The List, which ignored his obvious care for other campers wellbeing. he can still be selfish and jealous because again, hes a kid. that episode pisses me off because it had a good idea and totally made it extreme just because the writers didnt like lazlo (apparently)

i think living la vida lumpus did a good job with making him act mean because it was to help somebody. lazlo is very stubborn and will stop at nothing to get what he wants, like to make someone happy. so much so that he'll become a jerk xD he also did shit like fighting with slinkman so lumpus wont get fired and ignoring raj because he was so bent set on adventure. and in wheres lazlo he literally left his new friends because he believed he could just do that without consequences. i really like this trait about him, he's a free spirit but at the cost of being oblivious to how it may affect others, but still not a straight up meanie that does things to hurt people for an ego boost (like edward).

i dont get why people say lazlo is a one note character at all. i find him very interesting, especially to just be a kids cartoon character. maybe i look way into him. but it hurts me to know the writers didnt care for writing him....
