WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?
I had a dream, once, where I was in a huge room with a ceiling that seemed to be 100 feet high. There was a massive table in the middle, set for what seemed like giants 10 times my size. I remember that I was sitting on the floor, filled with awe and wonder, when a giant came up behind me, picked me up, and threw me into the air. I remember the feeling of flying up toward the ceiling, and then falling back again. The giant caught me, and I was filled with giddy laughter. The dream, it turns out, was a kind of sense memory. The giant was my father, and the room was our apartment dining room when I was quite small. That, I believe, is my earliest human memory.
Drummer Scott Devours talks about his amazing journey from a small town in Maryland to touring with The Who. In this first installment, he talks about his childhood, coming to California in his car, and creating a unique underground music scene in the LBC.
