2014.09 Strange decoration* on the street in Hakata , Fukuoka in Kyushu island (Southern part of japan) *This object is big figure of the product of some beverage company. The product is called “Ukon-no-chikara” literally means “Power of Turmeric”. It’s said it’s good to drink it before drinking alcohol to prevent or soften hang over. Don’t know the reason why this was here but people in Kyushu are known quite strong against alcohol (because they prefer Shochu (10-30% alcohol included) to beer(5±1%)). So that’s why (just my guess). Kanji symbols written below is the name of Kappou restaurant. Kappou is a 会席 / Kaiseki; traditional Japanese cuisine restaurant. They serve the meals in the right order like appetizer (usually called お通し / Otohshi)-soup (for re-setting mouth)-Sashimi / sliced pieces of raw fish (technically called 向付 / Mukoduke in terms of the order of Kaiseki cuisine...).
