Sansa stood beside her mother, watching what was left of their family. It had seemed impossible, a wild dream that could never come true no matter how much she wished it would. They had lost the head of their family, her beloved father who, although he hadn't always understood her, had certainly loved her. He had been a good, honourable man and had not deserved that fate Her time in Kings Landing had only served to further illustrate that point. If Westeros was ruled by people like Ned Stark then their world would be a far better one. It was no wonder that they had fractured, not just as a family but as a people. It was no wonder that some wished for the Dragon Queen to return from Essos because anything and anyone essentially was viewed to be better than the Lannister's.
Sansa rested one hand on the wall, the other at her side, peering down at Arya before looking to her mother. She had changed and so had her mother. They all had. She wasn't Catelyn's little girl anymore, nor was Arya. Arya was a deadly weapon but Sansa could be just as dangerous if she needed.
"You should tell that to the rest of the Kingdom. They don't seem to have received the message." Her voice was quiet but steady, controlled. That was something she had learned when she had left Winterfell.
The North made people strong but Sansa's strength had come from her time in the South. It held no fascination or allure for her anymore. She had wanted only to return home as soon as the opportunity had presented itself.
When Catelyn took her hand, Sansa offered no resistance. She welcomed the contact and she returned the squeeze with one of her own. "I don't know what you have to be proud of. I didn't exactly achieve what you or father had desired for me." Sansa was a touch rueful, but it was a flicker, there and gone in an instant.
"I may have to ask Arya for some advice sometime because my prowess with a blade consists solely of 'stick them with the pointy end'." There was humour in her expression as she said the words, inclining her head in her sister's direction.
